Seeing him walk merrily into a potential trap, claiming that the best alliance would be formed through a marriage, I decided to step in.

“That’s true. I’ll get married within the year, then!” Veremir replied.
“You’ll need to hurry.”

Veremir clenched his fist with determination. He didn’t seem to notice the dark sword energy almost radiating from Haven’s fork.
For now, we managed to dodge a difficult topic. Veremir lacked in reading the room, but he looked happy.
Perhaps being in the same line of work, he and I had a lot in common. Especially, when the conversation shifted to state affairs, Veremir’s unusual seriousness reminded me that he was indeed an emperor.
