Two clumps of high-temperature flames clashed against it and rapidly ignited.
The fire burned with immense intensity, completely enveloping the entire cobweb within a few breaths. This time, however, the web spat out by the Pit Demon Spider was not so fragile. It actually managed to resist the searing heat of the flames for a brief moment.
Clearly, this particular web was quite extraordinary compared to the standard ones.
Possessing immense defensive power, it was the Pit Demon Spider's signature ability—the Cobweb Cage. The core ability of a Pit Demon Spider lay within its webs. Its spider silk was slightly thicker than that of the Man-Face Demon Spider.
Although it lacked toxicity, it was extremely resilient and highly adhesive.
Aside from its weakness to fire, it was incredibly effective against both human Soul Masters and other Soul Beasts alike. Furthermore, unlike other spider-type Soul Beasts, the Pit Demon Spider could alter its webs into various shapes to create traps and slaughter its enemies.
As it spat out the web, it could secrete a special liquid onto the silk. Upon contact with the air, the liquid would cause the silk to solidify instantly, turning it into a spider cage in the blink of an eye. Although it lost its adhesiveness, it became as hard as steel.
Moreover, the "Pit" in the Pit Demon Spider's name was not unearned.
Among spider-type Soul Beasts, it was the only species capable of tunneling. Though its eight legs were not as fiercely sharp as those of the Man-Face Demon Spider, its front two legs were exceptionally thick and sharp.
It could dig tunnels at extreme speeds. Combined with its mastery over its own aura, it could completely conceal its presence within a short time, making it much easier to hide and ambush opponents.
It was truly the master of traps in the Soul Beast world.
Wherever it had previously traveled, it could conceal its spider silk beneath the ground.
This silk could then be controlled via its spiritual power. The moment an enemy stepped into this domain, it would immediately trigger the trap. Relying on the unique properties of its silk, a prison-like cage would form to trap the enemy inside.
If the enemy was weak, it would take the opportunity to move in for the kill; if the enemy was too powerful, it could use the spider cage to temporarily restrict them, buying itself enough time to escape.
Because there was almost no warning sign when the Cobweb Cage was activated, and the energy fluctuations were miniscule, even high-level experts ran the risk of falling into its trap.
This Pit Demon Spider was quite clever.
Knowing that its silk was countered by Huo Wu's abilities, it used the hardness and resistance of the spider cage to withstand the flames. This was almost identical to the scene in Ling Xiao's memory where Tang San used the Blue Silver Prison around himself for defense.
However, even though using the Cobweb Cage for defense yielded impressive results—preventing even Huo Wu's flames from incinerating it immediately—the fact that it was countered by fire remained an unchangeable truth. It simply possessed a slightly higher resistance.
Right now, under the searing heat of the Fire Burst, the originally deep yellow Cobweb Cage grew increasingly crimson. Small areas had even begun to burn away in a few places.
Had it not been for the insufficient firepower of Huo Wu's flame attack, which only consisted of two streams, this spider cage likely would not have lasted this long. Seeing that the flames could not harm this Soul Beast in the short term, Huo Wu gave a soft snort.
Once again, she circulated her soul power to stimulate her Flame Shadow Martial Soul.
The fiery light enveloping her body grew increasingly dazzling and eye-catching, and a scorching aura rapidly expanded outward, making it seem as though she herself had transformed into a streak of flame.
Crimson flames erupted once more from the palms of Huo Wu's hands, burning fiercely.
At the same time, two yellow soul rings slowly rose from beneath her feet.
A burst of flame erupted from each of them, causing both soul rings to ignite completely. It was identical to when Huo Wu had attacked just moments ago, only this time, her momentum was a level stronger.
Astonishingly, after these two soul rings ignited, the aura radiating from Huo Wu's body grew even more powerful. The flames atop her hands surged violently; the crimson blaze almost completely shrouded the upper half of her body, burning wildly and aggressively.
Due to the fiery glow manifested by her Flame Shadow Martial Soul, Huo Wu seemed to fuse seamlessly with the blazing fire, looking exactly like an elf born of the flames.
However, because this surge of flame was far too massive, and given that it was not a proper soul ring soul skill but an extension lacking a soul ring's stabilization, the rolling and rising fire seemed to exceed the upper limit of Huo Wu's control. It failed to condense completely.
Otherwise, if this massive amount of flame could be compressed into a fireball and detonated like her previous Blazing Explosion, its power would undoubtedly be terrifying. Yet in the very next instant, Huo Wu raised both her arms.
The majestic fire instantly surged upward, gathering above her head.
"Fire Burst—Flame Rain!"
Before her voice could even fade, the massive surge of flame suddenly began to churn violently like boiling water.
Very quickly, it split into more than a dozen smaller clusters. Each cluster pulled itself together, transforming into over a dozen crimson fireballs the size of human heads.
"Go!"
Huo Wu pushed her hands forward and spoke softly.
Instantly, the dozen or so fireballs radiating intense heat above her head shot out like arrows from a bow string, universally targeting the Pit Demon Spider as they flew toward it at lightning speed.
Screeech!
In an instant, the spider cage deployed by the Pit Demon Spider was completely blanketed by the flames. It ignited thoroughly, transforming directly into a giant fireball as the web was rapidly consumed by the raging fire.
The state of this burning flame was a shocking sight to behold, possessing an incomparably violent momentum. It did not burn gently or slowly; instead, it was like a famished beast, devouring its prey frantically.
This time, the Pit Demon Spider's Cobweb Cage did not last long before being reduced to ashes. The searing, incomparable flames descended upon its body, causing it to instantly let out a screech of agony.
Its burning body thrashed around in a frenzy as it continuously unleashed and circulated its soul power. Yet, no matter what it did, it could not extinguish the raging fire burning upon its flesh, only inflicting even more agony upon itself.
Its screeches and struggles were exceptionally loud at first, but it did not take long before they grew increasingly faint. Eventually, they vanished entirely as its life force was completely drained.
The Pit Demon Spider's entire body had practically turned into a lump of charcoal, with only the main torso remaining intact. Of its eight spider legs, all but the front two had been completely reduced to ashes, leaving them virtually unrecognizable.
Seeing that this Soul Beast was thoroughly dead, a smile finally graced Huo Wu's beautiful face.
Her originally gloomy mood had gradually eased up with the release of these consecutive bursts of scorching flame. She planned to collect the remaining two spider legs of this Soul Beast so her brother could use them for forging weapons.
However, a sudden burst of applause echoed through the forest at this moment.
The voice that followed immediately caused her smile to stiffen.
"Truly magnificent. This Pit Demon Spider had a cultivation base of around one thousand seven hundred years and even launched a sneak attack, yet Sister Huo Wu dealt with it so effortlessly."
"Defeating and killing it by merely relying on an extension of your first soul skill, Fire Burst—Feng Xiaotian admits he cannot compare."
Following the sound of a passing gust of wind, Huo Wu frowned and turned her head helplessly. She saw a silver-haired youth who had appeared a short distance away at some unknown point in time.
She actually had not noticed him at all while she was fighting just now.
