Ka'z let out a heavy sigh as he sat on the ground and stared at his team, who were gathered around him in a loose circle. Drak, Mi'ya, Thrak, Luk, Krov, Bigi, Bruk, Gruk, Kren and Tark all wore deep frowns. None of them looked happy about what they had just heard, and for once, nobody immediately argued against Ka'z's decision.
They had heard the entire discussion surrounding the Gnolls, the Halflings and the threat approaching from the west. More importantly, they had heard the reasoning behind Ka'z's decision to go alone.
They might not have liked it, but they couldn't honestly argue against it. They simply weren't strong enough yet to accompany him into a conflict involving a race that had already killed a regional guardian beast.
"That's why I have to go alone," Ka'z said, his voice carrying a tired acceptance rather than excitement.
