ELARA~
It was well past two in the morning when the jet's tires touched down in Macadona.
Outside the window, a private runway stretched out into vast, dark fields illuminated by tall pole lights. I stared out into the quiet expanse. It was... beautiful, in a bleak, lonely kind of way.
Andrew unbuckled his seatbelt first. He stepped out to speak to someone on the tarmac and returned a moment later, holding the door open.
"Mr. Arthur would like to have a chat with you before you're taken to your hotel," he said quietly.
I frowned, checking my phone. "What time is it?"
"Past two. He's been waiting for you."
Waiting for me? Why?
"And Isla?" I asked, my voice barely audible.
Andrew shook his head. "She's at the hospital. They are still observing her, as she isn't completely out of danger yet."
