Chapter 30 — The Beast King's Arrival
Yamato and Ragnar looked ready to start a whole freaking war. The tension grew again.
Coco and Toto slammed into despair, looking at Ragnar and Yamato as they prepared to start a literal war with the Whitebeard Pirates.
Other crew members were already looking like they were dead.
"It's—it's over! We are as good as dead!"
"Waaa! This is it! After surviving storms and Hachinosu, we're gonna die now!"
"Kaidooo-sama! We need Kaido-sama! Hurry and contact Onigashima!"
"Idiots! Even if we contact Lord Kaido, he will need at least a few days to reach us."
"Even Lord Ragnar and Yamato can't stall the Whitebeard Pirates for that long, not even with Hiyori-sama added!"
"They have Whitebeard! They can't stall them!"
Coco, in the cabin, fell to the ground, her face having lost all its color. "We're done for!"
Toto gritted his teeth and activated the Den Den Mushi on his wrist. "SHUT UP!" he shouted as his voice echoed throughout the ship.
The crew members who had been wailing in despair stopped as Toto's voice echoed through the ship. Coco looked at Toto. "To—"
"I have had enough of you spineless cowards! What do you think sailing the sea is?" Toto's eyes turned red with anger.
"You think sailing under the flag of a Yonko is a piece of cake? How dare you bastards act so pathetically! This is a ship carrying the flag of a Yonko—the Beast King Kaido! Is just one Yonko enough to make you piss your pants? Jump off the ship, or I will kill you myself!"
Coco looked at Toto. "Toto—"
But Toto didn't care. He grabbed the hull, his eyes burning with the resolve of a man who had accepted death and was ready to fight to the death.
"Cowards have no place in a Yonko's crew, nor on the sea of the New World. Those who still have the guts and a damn spine, start doing your damn work."
"Load the cannons! If it's a war, this ship isn't going back or retreating. This ship is meant to follow Lady Yamato and Ragnar. It will do just that till the end!"
Meanwhile, in the sky, Yamato gripped Takeru tightly. Blue-white frost formed ice spikes along her kanabo. Her long white hair with blue tips flew wildly in the wind, while icy scales shimmered across her body and a cold, frosty aura surrounded her.
Newgate looked at Jozu and the others, who were ready for a fight. He sighed. Why were all of them acting so impatient?
"Hmmm."
His Observation Haki flickered as he sensed the movements on the Beast Pirates' ship. The cannons were adjusting their aim as the entire ship prepared for a fight to the death.
A flicker of surprise passed through his eyes. The previous fear had been replaced by a strong will to fight to the death. Then his eyes turned towards the cabin.
"Hah… An interesting fellow."
The Whitebeard Pirates also noticed the movements.
"Do they really think those trinkets will be of any use when Pops is here?" Thatch snickered.
Marco looked at them with a more serious expression. "No. They're preparing to fight even if it means death."
Just as Newgate was about to say something—
"You think we're afraid?" Yamato said, battle lust flaring in her eyes. Her eyes glowed icy blue, while her azure scales glowed with a frosty aura.
"You wanna go at it, you punk—" Izo raised his gun, pointing it at Yamato and Ragnar. Hiyori reached for Ame-no-Habakiri.
Just then, Yamato, Ragnar, Hiyori, Marco, Izo, and Newgate all turned towards the sky.
Ragnar's draconic eyes glimmered.
Well, what damn timing, he muttered as his eyes flickered towards Yamato.
"Tsk. Is he showing off or what?" Yamato complained with her hands on her hips.
Hiyori sheathed Ame-no-Habakiri back into its scabbard. "Tsk. Show-off," she snorted under her breath.
The sky darkened as thunderclouds cracked with lightning, and the thunderous crackling of electricity echoed through the sky.
KRA-KOOM!
A massive and long shadow was illuminated by a flash of lightning, accompanied by thunderous laughter.
"Wororororororororoooo!"
Hearing the familiar laughter, Toto and the other crew members who had been prepared to die froze as they turned upwards.
"Thi-this… could it be—" Coco muttered with wet eyes.
Tears of relief flowed through Toto's eyes. "H-he is here! Waaaa!" He burst into tears.
From within the thunderous laughter, the head of a massive azure dragon emerged, looking down at everyone.
"Did someone mention a war?"
Marco's eyes shrank to pinpricks. Jozu and Thatch stared at the dragon's head, cold sweat forming on their foreheads.
"K-Kaido," they muttered.
"Kaidoooooo-sama!" The Beast Pirates cheered in relief and joy.
"We are saved!"
"Waaaaaaaaa! Kaido-sama is here!"
"Gurarararara! Hashiburi dana, Kaido. You have grown quite a lot since I last saw you," Newgate laughed heartily.
"Tsk. Stop acting like you're happy to see me," Kaido snorted.
In the next second, blood-red lightning crackled between Newgate and Kaido's eyes as their Conqueror's Haki erupted like a torrent of a tsunami.
KRA-KRA-KRA-KOOM!
Unlike the previous clash, where Newgate was testing Yamato and Ragnar, this was a true clash between two Supreme Kings.
BOOOOOOM!
The two tsunami-like wills clashed as the world turned gray and blood-red. All the crew members of the Beast Pirates and Whitebeard Pirates didn't even have time to react as their eyes rolled back.
Foam began leaking from their mouths, and they collapsed unconscious.
Even Hiyori, Izo, and the other veterans dropped to their knees, their minds growing hazy. Yamato, Ragnar, Marco, Jozu, and Thatch felt as if their hearts had been grabbed by something.
Though they were far better off than Hiyori and the others, even they couldn't move a single inch.
The two wills, like raging tsunamis, collided.
BOOOOOOM!
The collision split the sky in two. The storm clouds completely went silent, as if afraid of angering the two Titans.
Hiyori gritted her teeth and opened one eye, looking up into the sky. The sight of the two Supreme Kings meeting etched itself into her memory.
That day, she finally understood what the Yonko title represented.
Monsters strong enough to split the heavens with just their will alone.
