The color-coded list was, objectively, a document of some ambition.
Saki had produced it on two sheets of paper, front and back, in four colors — red for urgent, orange for time-sensitive, blue for requires-group-decision, and green for delegatable. She distributed copies around the living room with the brisk efficiency of someone who had been waiting for this phase and was not going to waste the momentum.
"Where did you print these," Yoru said.
"The printer in the study," Saki said.
"We have a printer in the study?" Yuki said.
A brief pause settled over the room.
"We have had a printer in the study for eight months," Saki said, with the measured patience of someone updating a belief she found mildly baffling. "I've used it regularly. The paper is in the bottom drawer."
Seven adults looked at each other.
"Moving on," Saki said. "Red items first. There are eleven. The most urgent is venue."
"We haven't decided on a venue yet," Nana said.
"That's why it's red," Saki said.
