Chapter 13 - THE ALGORITHM OF DOUBT

CHAPTER 13: THE ALGORITHM OF DOUBT

The ground wasn't solid. It was cognitively fluid.

After feeding the system lies in the previous chapter, the response didn't explode. It infiltrated.

Kakashi Hatake stopped dead. His Sharingan spun, frantic, trying to decrypt reality. "Don't trust what you see," he warned, voice dry as iron. "The system didn't break. It's rewriting the rules based on our deception. We aren't walking on terrain. We're walking on its corrupted memory."

The landscape shifted continuously. Konoha walls formed, morphed into Soul Society towers, then dissolved into gray void. The sound was grating: overlapping whispers, voices of the dead, unfulfilled promises.

"It's testing our weave," Ichigo Kurosaki said, grip white-knuckled on Zangetsu. "The air here... heavy. Not with pressure. With suspicion."

The environment split the team. Not randomly. A tactical partition forced by the system.

Sasuke Uchiha and Rukia Kuchiki found themselves isolated in a narrow corridor of distorted light. No monsters. No visible enemies. Just an echo.

A shape materialized before Sasuke. Not a creature. A high-fidelity hologram of a man he knew well: Itachi Uchiha. But the image was warped, voice reverberating like a well-echo.

"You are always alone, Sasuke. Allies are just tools... and betrayal is the only natural law of survival."

Simultaneously, a shadow resembling Byakuya Kuchiki appeared before Rukia. Cold, harsh, looking down with disdain.

"You are a burden, Rukia. Your honor is weakness. Abandon your comrades and save the mission."

The unit was a Doubt Weaver. Its function wasn't to kill. It was to shatter the alliance from within. The system knew that energy from "self-betrayal" and "psychological collapse" was the most valuable fuel for Yhwach's cage.

Rukia froze. Not from fear. From existential hesitation. Her hand rose to her zanpakutō, not to attack Sasuke, but to verify her own reality.

Sasuke didn't attack. He didn't look at the projection. His Rinnegan spun slowly, piercing the visual illusion down to the underlying energy infrastructure.

"Illusion," Sasuke murmured, voice cold as ice. "The system is trying to plant a seed of division between us to harvest internal conflict energy."

But the Doubt Weaver didn't yield. Environmental pressure spiked. The ground vibrated at a low frequency, accelerating heartbeats. The holographic Sasuke-clone raised a hand, charging black chakra toward Rukia.

Here was the real test.

Logic said: flee or strike the image first.

Deeper tactics said: trust your partner.

Sasuke didn't move to defend. He stood firm. Looked at Rukia with one eye. A single glance. It meant: "I'm not moving because you know the difference between me and the echo. Strike the empty space."

Rukia caught the signal. No hesitation.

At lightning speed, she unleashed Sōdo no Shirafuki. But not toward Sasuke. Not toward the illusion.

She fired it at the void between them. At the exact point where the illusion's frequency pulsed.

The white energy struck the blind spot in the emptiness.

There was no wall. There was a hidden algorithmic node.

The illusion shattered like glass. The Doubt Weaver's voice twisted into a digital screech, then dissolved into gray smoke.

DOUBT ALGORITHM: DISABLED. ALLIANCE STABILITY: ABSOLUTE. THRESHOLD: +0.09%.

WARNING: TARGET REJECTS STANDARD NARRATIVE. REROUTING TO DIRECT ENGAGEMENT UNIT.

Terrain stabilized. A narrow passage split open, reuniting the team.

Kakashi studied Sasuke and Rukia carefully. "You succeeded. The system expected you to doubt each other. You did the opposite... you used suspicion as bait."

Ichigo exhaled. "But it learned now. The next step won't be deception."

Naruto Uzumaki stepped forward, face grim. "I can feel it... deep down. Something big is waking up. Not a machine. A living thing."

The wind shifted abruptly. A sulfurous, cold-blood scent filled the air.

From the end of the corridor, a long shadow emerged. Not a ghost. Flesh, blood, and raw power.

Rough blue hair. Feral eyes gleaming with combat hunger. A monstrous spiritual pressure crushing the space, cracking the ground beneath its feet.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez.

But he wasn't alone. A shadowy echo of Nnoitra Gilga walked beside him, eyes gleaming with sadism.

Grimmjow grinned, a predatory smile revealing sharp fangs. Voice rough and heavy like grinding stone:

"Finally... real food. No illusions. No tricks. Just blood and bone."

Sasuke Uchiha rested his hand on his katana hilt. Rinnegan stopped spinning, locking onto the target.

"This isn't an algorithm," Sasuke said coldly. "It's a feral beast. The system released it to break us by brute force after deception failed."

Rukia stood beside him, sword aimed. "Grimmjow. The 6th Espada. His power is brutal and unpredictable."

Kakashi gave the final command. Voice calm but decisive.

"Rules changed. No analysis. No deception. Survival belongs to the fastest and strongest. Sasuke, Rukia... you're the first line. Prove that alliance doesn't weaken power... it multiplies it."

Naruto and Ichigo braced in the rear, energy ready to intervene at the slightest misstep.

The confrontation began.

Instinct vs Tactics.

The Beast vs The Shinigami and Shinobi.

And the system watched, logging every drop of blood, every pulse of fear, adding it to Yhwach's hungry vessel.
