The mountain shook as the Crystal Key touched the ancient door.
A deep golden light spread across the valley, and the symbols carved into the stone walls began to glow. Aren stepped back, his heart racing. Lyra stood beside him, her silver blade raised, while Kael watched the shadows around them.
Then the gate slowly opened.
Beyond it was not a treasure room or a forgotten palace.
It was a garden.
Ancient trees with glowing leaves reached toward a sky filled with stars that never moved. Rivers of light flowed across the ground like liquid moonlight. In the center stood a single throne made of crystal.
"The First Kingdom..." Lyra whispered.
A voice echoed through the garden.
"Only the keeper of the broken stars may enter."
Aren walked forward.
As his hand touched the crystal throne, thousands of memories rushed into his mind. He saw the first kings, the birth of magic, and the moment when the stars were shattered to protect the world from a darkness older than time.
The truth was terrifying.
The Shadow King had never truly died.
He had been imprisoned beyond the stars, and every broken star was part of the seal that held him captive.
Kael's face turned pale.
"If the stars are restored," he said softly, "the prison will break."
Aren looked at the glowing sky.
"Then why did the prophecy lead us here?"
The mysterious voice answered once more.
"Because the world cannot survive with broken stars forever. A new guardian must choose between light... and freedom."
Suddenly, the ground cracked.
Dark smoke poured from the sky, twisting into a giant figure with burning eyes.
The Shadow King had found the gate.
He smiled.
"You are too late, child of Elyndor. The final seal is already broken."
The stars above flickered.
One by one, they began to fall.
