The ancient guardian rose from his knee and drew a spear of pure silver light.
"The Gate has awakened," he said. "There is no more time to hide."
Above the endless sky within the sanctuary, the dark figure with the broken crown watched silently. Behind him floated thousands of fallen stars, each one glowing with a cold, crimson fire.
Aren tightened his grip on the Starblade.
"Who is he?"
The guardian's voice was heavy with sorrow.
"He was once the greatest of the Star Keepers. His name was Caelor, the First Guardian. But he tried to control the power of every star. When he failed, he was consumed by the darkness between worlds."
Liora looked at the approaching army.
"Can we stop them?"
The guardian turned to Aren.
"Only the one chosen by the stars can seal the darkness."
Suddenly, the giant gate behind them closed with a thunderous sound.
The floating stars around the sanctuary began to move, circling Aren like silent guardians.
One by one, they touched the Starblade.
A memory filled his mind.
He saw the first Star Keepers forging the blade from pieces of a dying star. They knew that one day the balance of the heavens would break.
So they left a final promise:
When the last light fades, one heart must carry them all.
The vision disappeared.
A loud crash echoed across the sanctuary.
The army of fallen stars had arrived.
Dark warriors stepped from the shadows, their armor cracked and glowing red. The sky itself seemed to shatter as they advanced.
Kael raised his shield.
"They're coming!"
The guardian pointed toward a circle of ancient stones.
"Protect the Star Altar. If it falls, the kingdom will lose its last hope."
The battle began.
Liora released arrows of blue light that cut through the darkness.
Kael stood like a wall, holding back wave after wave of shadow warriors.
Aren fought at the center, the Starblade shining brighter with every strike.
But no matter how many enemies fell, more appeared.
Then the dark king descended from the sky.
His broken crown burned like black fire.
He looked directly at Aren.
"You carry a power that was never meant for mortals."
Aren lifted the Starblade.
"And I'll use it to protect this world."
The dark king smiled.
"No... you will use it to destroy it."
With a single movement, he raised his hand.
The Star Altar cracked.
The guardian was thrown across the sanctuary.
Liora and Kael fell to the ground as a wave of dark energy swept over them.
Aren stood alone.
The broken crown began to glow.
Then, to his horror, another name appeared in the sky above the altar.
CAELOR VALE
Aren's heart stopped.
"Vale?" he whispered.
The dark king's eyes shone with ancient sadness.
"Yes. Long before I became the King of Fallen Stars... I was your ancestor."
Lightning split the heavens.
The Starblade trembled in Aren's hand.
And for the first time, he wondered if the enemy had been waiting for him since the beginning.
