Elina arrived at the eastern frontier bridge with Didi and two record keepers, carrying court business in ordinary travel cases.
Didi walked beside Elina as an envoy rather than making the visiting party wait for ceremonial permission.
There was zero imperial pomp or fanfare accompanying their carriage, only durable travel garments suited for rugged mountain weather.
Elina set two leather baggage containers down near the municipal gate, wiping trail dust from her travel cloak with a wry smile.
"The royal court demanded an elaborate ceremonial procession," the noblewoman stated, watching the frontier guards verify their travel documents.
"Didi insisted upon dedicated record keepers and sturdy wool clothing suited for the unpredictable mountain passes."
"Practical clothing remains far more useful than twenty ornamental cavalrymen," Hajin remarked, stepping forward to welcome the arriving delegation.
