Workers dragged torn drapes from the reception hall while Hajin stepped around their brooms to inspect the renovation plans.
Marrick walked three paces behind Hajin, carrying a tall stack of estate renovation blueprints under his arm.
"The master architect prepared three separate proposals for the primary manor suites," the clerk announced, unrolling a vellum sheet.
"The first option includes imported marble fireplace mantels, crystal chandeliers, and a private banquet pavilion for twenty guests."
Hajin glanced at the ornate architectural drawing for barely three seconds before pushing it back toward the clerk.
"What is the estimated treasury expenditure for crystal chandeliers and marble mantels?" he asked, his voice completely flat.
"Ten thousand gold crowns for the private wing, and another six thousand for the ballroom," Marrick replied proudly.
"A lord of provisional rank ninety-six is expected to host provincial aristocracy with proper dignity and grandeur."
