Morning wind cut across the high switchbacks as Hajin carried the silver-haired toddler down the rocky trail.
The infant rested comfortably within his arms, gnawing vigorously on the hardened edge of a leather harness strap.
"Spit that out, Ash," he muttered.
He gently tugged the chewed leather strap away from the child's mouth, shaking his head in mild exasperation.
"Harness leather is meant to keep you secure, not serve as your morning breakfast."
Ash let out an indignant squeak, his bright silver eyes narrowing as he gripped the strap with surprising force.
"Chew!" the toddler proclaimed loudly, flashing a mouthful of sharp, pearlescent teeth that threatened to slice the leather in half.
Hajin sighed, tapping his temple to summon the translucent azure interface of the administrative assistant.
"Aria, tell me there is a way to store this little monster inside a temporary dimensional pocket," he requested under his breath.
