Mission Report
Report Number: 20180706-Special Grade-003
Reporter: Auxiliary Manager, Kiyotaka Ijichi
Mission Level: Special Grade Imaginary Vengeful Spirit Disaster
Mission Location: XX First High School, Ota City, Gunma Prefecture
Mission Time: July 6, 2018, 03:00 to 04:00
This mission was led by Grade 1 Sorcerer Yuji Itadori as the main attacker, with coordinated combat support from Special Grade 1 Sorcerer Naoya Zenin, Grade 1 Sorcerer Kento Nanami, Grade 2 Sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro, and Grade 3 Sorcerer Junpei Yoshino.
The targets were several Special Grade curses and one Special Grade Vengeful Cursed Spirit possessing multiple cursed technique effects. The main body of this cursed spirit took the form of a giant baby, over tens of meters in length, with the ability to create dreams and illusions, split its physical body, and forcefully drag targets into multi-layered dreams.
Additionally, the cursed spirit could split into dozens of clones with independent combat capabilities. One of these clones had two of Sukuna's fingers implanted within its body, reaching a strength level of Super Special Grade.
All Special Grade cursed spirits were exorcised by Grade 1 Sorcerer Yuji Itadori.
End of report.
Kiyotaka Ijichi July 6, 2018
When the afternoon sunlight slipped through the gap in the curtains into the room, Yuji was sprawled spread-eagle on his bed, sleeping like the dead.
Who could have thought that the sinister Kenjaku would use a war of attrition to exhaust him? The battle in the early hours of the morning had drained almost all of his cursed energy. After returning to Jujutsu High, he even washed up with his eyes closed. He crashed the moment he hit the bed last night and slept straight through to noon today.
However, just as Yuji was enjoying a baby-like sleep, a knocking sound came from his dorm balcony.
THUMP THUMP THUMP—THUMP THUMP THUMP—
Yuji rolled over and pulled the blanket over his head, trying to ignore the annoying noise. But the person knocking on the window clearly had no intention of giving up. The rhythm only grew more urgent.
Yuji's eyes snapped open.
What was going on?!
It didn't sound like a bird. Could it be Megumi seeking revenge because he and Sukuna had been too loud playing video games?
"So noisy... what are you doing bright and early in the morning?"
Yuji muttered as he threw off the blanket, swayed over to the balcony, and pulled open the sunshade.
A blond man with a radiant smile appeared in his line of sight through the floor-to-ceiling window.
"Good afternoon, Itadori-kun!"
Naoya Zenin stood in front of the balcony window, smiling and waving at Yuji.
"Wishing you a day full of energy! May I ask if you are going for morning training next? Or eating breakfast first? Or perhaps heading to the training ground to warm up?"
"...?"
Yuji's eyes widened.
Because Megumi found him too noisy, Yuji's dorm room had been moved to the third floor.
How the hell did you get up here?!
"...Naoya Zenin, what are you trying to do?"
Yuji stared at him for two seconds to confirm he wasn't dreaming.
Although he had gained a preliminary understanding of Naoya Zenin's situation after the incident in the early hours, it was hard to imagine. Despite having the same face and the same voice, the guy standing before him—acting with the tone and attitude of a fangirl meeting her idol—was the exact same arrogant Zenin clan young master from a few days ago who called people "trash" and "garbage" and demanded not to be looked down upon.
Yuji had intended to observe Naoya Zenin for a while longer, but he didn't expect the guy to deliver himself to his doorstep.
Probably because he had received treatment from Shoko Ieiri at Jujutsu High, Naoya Zenin hadn't returned directly to the Zenin clan.
"...I'm going to wash up first, then get something to eat," Yuji rubbed his eyes, giving up on thinking too hard. "If you want breakfast, we can go together, but you don't need to camp outside my room this early."
"Itadori-kun, it's already noon."
"Same difference!"
"Then, what does Itadori-kun plan to eat for breakfast today? Rice or bread? What side dishes? For soup, do you prefer miso or clear broth? I can write it down for future reference!"
As Naoya Zenin spoke, he pulled a palm-sized notebook and a pen from his pocket and began to scribble.
"Why are you writing that down?"
"Because I want to learn everything about Itadori-kun! From your dietary habits to your training methods, from your daily routine to how you treat others! For you to become so strong, it must be closely related to your daily lifestyle! Even as your senior, I must properly learn from you!"
"..."
The corner of Yuji's mouth twitched slightly.
"...What exactly are you writing?"
"An observation diary! I'll record it every day starting today. After a month, I should be able to summarize the secret to Itadori-kun's strength!"
Yuji felt a vein slowly bulging on his forehead.
However, after letting out a long breath, he quickly calmed down. He would just treat him as a somewhat troublesome underclassman.
It was still slightly better than the previous Naoya Zenin who was single-mindedly intent on launching a night raid on him.
After washing up, Yuji headed straight toward the cafeteria, with Naoya Zenin following behind him like a shadow the entire time.
Yuji decided to ignore him for now.
Going from the third floor to the first floor, walking across the stone path in front of the dorms, the route to the cafeteria passed by the track and field. Just as Yuji reached a small grove of trees, he spotted a familiar figure in the nearby field.
A green-haired girl with a ponytail, holding a wooden training sword, was currently swinging it at a wooden dummy.
It was Maki Zenin.
Yuji's footsteps came to an abrupt halt. Behind him, Naoya Zenin's eyes lit up upon seeing his cousin. He raised his hand and was just about to speak.
"Maki..."
"Don't make a sound."
Yuji clamped a hand over Naoya Zenin's mouth and lowered his voice.
"Let's take a detour."
"But I haven't apologized to Maki-chan yet... Eh, Itadori-kun, wait for me!"
"..."
Yuji wiped the cold sweat from his face as he walked quickly away from the field.
It wasn't that he was afraid of Maki. It was mainly because the current situation was just too hard to explain.
Right now, he had a bowing and scraping Naoya Zenin following behind him. If Maki saw this scene, how was he supposed to explain it? Was he just supposed to say, "Oh, don't worry Maki-senpai, this guy is my fan now"?
Even if he told the truth, it would be hard for Maki Zenin to believe such a cursed technique existed. Just thinking about it was troublesome.
But then again, wasn't the plot development a bit too weird right now?
Shouldn't the actual script be like this:
Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Summary. Naobito Zenin: Head of the Zenin clan, good friends with Toji Fushiguro, plans to pass the head position to Toji's son when Satoru Gojo gets sealed. Megumi Fushiguro: Jujutsu High first-year student, a fragile maiden who gets exorcised by Grade 2 curses. Naoya Zenin: Young master of the Zenin clan, targets Megumi Fushiguro for the position of clan head. Yuji Itadori: The strongest sorcerer 68 years in the future, can throw 24 Black Flashes per second with his elbows. After casting his Domain Expansion [Black Flash Octagon Cage], he elbows Naoya Zenin into becoming a new man.
"..."
Yuji hurriedly distanced himself from the field. However, Maki on the training ground had long since noticed the two of them.
She stopped her sword swings, wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand, and narrowed her eyes toward the corner of the school building. Naoya Zenin was following closely behind Yuji, eagerly writing something in a notebook, his face full of reverence and admiration.
...Was that Naoya Zenin? Why was he trailing behind Yuji like an obedient grandson?
Maki Zenin rubbed her eyes.
She must have seen wrong. At this time, Naoya Zenin should have left Jujutsu High long ago.
It couldn't possibly be that Yuji was so overwhelmingly strong that—just like Toji Fushiguro back in the day—he had completely bent the straight-laced Naoya into a simp, right?
"I say, how long are you going to follow me?"
The afternoon training ground was empty, the sunlight slanting into the Japanese-style hall.
"Until I have fully mastered Itadori-kun's life habits."
"But today's observation has already benefited me greatly. You like eating pork cutlet bowls for lunch, you have a habit of walking with your hands in your pockets, and you are very polite to the cafeteria ladies. These details must be the key to becoming the strongest sorcerer!"
"No, those have absolutely nothing to do with getting stronger."
Yuji sweatdropped.
"Itadori-kun, you're too humble!"
"I'm not being humble!"
Yuji sighed and gave up on arguing.
At that moment, footsteps suddenly echoed from the entrance of the training ground. Both of them turned their heads and saw a sea urchin-haired boy and a black-haired boy whose hair covered half his face walking toward them.
Megumi walked in front, hands in his pockets, with several bandages plastered on his face.
"Itadori, we're here... What's with this guy?"
Megumi narrowed his eyes. Although he didn't attack immediately because Yuji was present, this dangerous man still put him on high alert.
After all, Megumi had passed out directly last night and didn't witness what happened afterward.
"Wait!"
Naoya Zenin suddenly grew excited. He quickly stepped forward and arrived in front of Megumi.
"What are you trying to do?!"
Megumi reacted defensively, almost starting to chant "Furube, Yurayura," but Naoya Zenin merely grabbed one of Megumi's hands with excitement.
"Are you—could you be—the son of the Toji-kun I admire the most, Megumi Fushiguro?!"
"...?"
Megumi was entirely confused.
"I am Megumi Fushiguro, yes."
"It really is you! I'm so moved! To think I could meet Toji-kun's son here—I am so incredibly happy today!" Tears welled up in Naoya Zenin's eyes. He held Megumi's hand tightly, his voice growing increasingly agitated. "If it's convenient, could you give me an autograph?"
"...An autograph?" Megumi's brain was struggling to process this.
"Yes, exactly! Just sign 'Fushiguro' and 'Megumi' right here on my left and right eyeballs!"
"...Why would I sign on your eyeballs?"
"Just like the Upper Moons in Demon Slayer—isn't it super cool to have words written on your eyeballs?"
Naoya Zenin babbled on to himself.
"Speaking of which, your dad, Toji-kun, was also an incredibly cool person. Back in the day, he single-handedly defeated Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo. That's Satoru Gojo! The strongest modern jujutsu sorcerer! And Toji-kun did it with just ordinary cursed tools. It was absolutely amazing!"
"And as Toji-kun's son, Megumi-kun, you also have your old man's demeanor from back then. Entering as a Grade 2 sorcerer."
"Although I heard you almost got soloed by a Grade 2 curse a few days ago, you've only just enrolled. The road is still long!"
Naoya Zenin patted Megumi on the shoulder.
"Besides, isn't getting exorcised by a Grade 2 curse also pretty cool?"
"...What exactly did you come here for?"
Megumi's face darkened. Junpei stood to the side, his expression awkward, unsure if he should laugh or not.
"Itadori, why did you bring this guy here?"
"He insisted on following me himself. It's a long story..."
Yuji explained the aftermath of the events from the early morning, while Megumi listened with continuous sighs.
Just having Satoru Gojo and Yuji making noise together was already troubling enough.
Would he have to deal with an extra Naoya Zenin in the future?!
"Anyway, let's ignore him and continue today's training."
Yuji waved his hand.
He had been running around non-stop for the past few days. It was rare to have a day without missions where he could peacefully stay at Jujutsu High.
"By the way, it's rare for you to seek me out for training, Fushiguro."
"...I want to get stronger, Itadori. Teach me Barrier Techniques."
Megumi nodded.
"No problem," Yuji answered.
After conquering the weakness of Blood Manipulation, Yuji needed to consider other directions for development.
During the early morning mission, he had swallowed three of Sukuna's fingers in total. Now he had eight fingers inside him. Although this cursed energy was enough for him to expand a Domain for about five minutes, it still wasn't exactly abundant.
The next things to consider were Domains and physical training. In reality, Yuji just had low base stats right now. He was sufficient in other areas.
If possible, it would be best if he could get his hands on Sukuna's Shrine technique.
Speaking of Shrine, Yuji had noticed since his past life that the time it took for him to acquire Sukuna's technique seemed to be linked to the amount of time Sukuna controlled the body.
If Sukuna occupied his physical body for an extended period, Sukuna's cursed energy would permeate the body, thereby accelerating the process of engraving the technique.
Therefore, Yuji agreeing to let Sukuna play video games for two hours every night was an absolutely correct tactical decision!
At this rate, he would soon acquire Shrine!
Yuji was the shrewdest of all. He claimed he was letting Sukuna play games, but in reality, he secretly wanted to steal Sukuna's technique.
It's just that... I wonder how things are going on Kenjaku's end.
But Yuji had already set up an insurance policy in advance.
Even though the enemy was in the dark and he was in the light, the young man had still prepared countermeasures.
At the very least, he couldn't remain as passive as he was now.
In the early morning, before the mission ended.
"Choso, I have a favor to ask of you."
Before leaving the campus, Yuji specially checked the surroundings for surveillance cursed spirits and camera coverage.
After completing this series of actions, the young man finally spoke earnestly to Choso.
"Speak. As long as it is within my power."
"I want to ask you to be my undercover spy on Kenjaku's side. Pass information to me through someone named Mechamaru."
Mechamaru was bound by a Binding Vow and couldn't pass complete information to him in a timely manner, but Choso was different.
"Besides, Eso and Kechizu are still with Kenjaku, right? If you suddenly change sides now, your two brothers will suffer."
"Yuji, you..."
Choso looked at the younger brother before him, who was considerate of him in every way, and his eyes suddenly grew moist.
"...What's wrong?"
"How can you be so thoughtful!"
"Ah? It's nothing..."
Kenjaku's Base.
The black-haired man draped in a kasaya walked slowly down the corridor with his arms crossed. After arriving at a courtyard, he looked at the blue-haired cursed spirit sitting under a tree not far away, who had been sulking in isolation for a long time.
"What—finally regained your confidence?"
"Ah, exactly," Mahito's voice was still a bit raspy, but he had recovered some vitality. "After adjusting for so long, it's about time to wake up from this depression."
The curse slowly stood up, fallen leaves sliding off his shoulders.
"Hanami and Dagon's deaths made me very sad. After all, we were comrades. Yuji Itadori is indeed very strong."
"But he's not as strong as me. As long as I maintain my previous condition, I will surpass him sooner or later."
Mahito's tone had become much steadier this time. The curse slowly curled the corners of his mouth, a wicked smile appearing on his face.
The sky had cleared. The rain had stopped.
Mahito felt like he was back in the game.
Kenjaku leaned against the corridor pillar, shaking his head helplessly.
Fortunately, he had been providing psychological counseling to Mahito these past few days—finally pulling the guy out of his depression.
To be honest, he had expected Mahito to sulk for at least a few more days. Hanami's death was a heavy blow to the three curses. Jogo had taken all the responsibility onto himself, keeping a straight face all day without speaking, while Dagon went straight for revenge against Yuji and lost his life.
Yet Mahito was the first to bounce back.
"I have a much clearer understanding of my own strength now. Until I have trained enough to stand a fighting chance against Yuji Itadori, I will not easily show myself."
Mahito turned his head and smiled at Kenjaku.
"Teach me some jujutsu techniques, Kenjaku."
"I could do that. However, I have a mission I need to assign to you and Jogo here."
Mahito tilted his head. "Oh? What mission?"
"It concerns the Big Three Sorcerer Families."
"In order to set up our next plan, I need to go overseas for some experiments. I likely won't be appearing in Japan until the day after tomorrow," Kenjaku said.
He had already given his intel to Yuji. Once Satoru Gojo returned to Jujutsu High, Yuji would highly likely inform him about the situation.
Although Kenjaku had another method to seal Satoru Gojo, before that—
"You need to buy some time for me to lay out my plans. So, please go and turn the Zenin clan upside down."
"Show them what you're capable of, Mahito."
"..."
Mahito smiled. "Alright."
"As for Yuji Itadori—I will be the one to kill him."
