Chapter 134 - Daito Saga: Fair Play

Chapter 134: Equaliser Monday

The moment Nyx's portal finally closed, the aircraft fell into an unnatural silence. For a brief second, nobody moved or spoke, as though everyone was still processing the fact that Daito Greyhell and Gyoran Chitsujo had disappeared beyond the portal and into a place none of them could reach.

Then Nyx suddenly doubled over.

COUGH!

SPLAT!

Dark blood splattered across the aircraft floor.

"Nyx!"

Fah-jin immediately rushed forward and caught her before she could collapse completely. Another violent cough shook Nyx's body, sending another trace of blood across her lips as faint Astral energy pulsed beneath the veins around her neck.

The effort required to open such a massive portal had pushed her body far beyond its limits, and now the consequences were catching up with her all at once.

"Don't push yourself," Fah-jin said as she carefully lowered Nyx to the floor.

Nyx wiped the blood from her mouth with the back of her hand, trying to steady her breathing. "I have to."

"You don't."

"I do."

Nyx slowly lifted her head and looked through the aircraft window toward the town below.

The city was still burning, and distant explosions continued flashing between the buildings as fighters battled across the streets. Even from this altitude, the destruction was impossible to ignore.

"The fight isn't over yet."

Fah-jin frowned. "You've already done enough."

Nyx gave a weak laugh. "That's not what Daito would say."

Fah-jin opened her mouth to respond, but no argument came.

Nearby, Monday Valhalla stood with his arms folded, electricity quietly crackling around his body. He had been staring at the place where Daito had disappeared, his expression unusually quiet as he considered everything that had happened.

Finally, he spoke.

"It looks like the Boss problem is dealt with."

Monday's eyes shifted toward the battlefield below.

"Now all that's left are the King, the royal guards, Silver Moon, and the Stars."

Boooom.....

BRRRMMM!

A distant explosion shook the aircraft.

Monday grinned.

"Sounds like fun."

Fah-jin rolled her eyes. "You're impossible."

Monday walked toward the aircraft door, and just before he jumped, he looked back toward Fah-jin.

"Keep the singer alive."

He pointed toward the briefcase lying nearby.

"And keep that safe."

Fah-jin nodded. "We'll handle it."

Monday smirked.

"I know."

CRACK!!

Lightning erupted beneath his feet.

A brilliant flash illuminated the aircraft for an instant before Monday launched himself through the open doorway.

BOOOOM!!

The air exploded behind him as he disappeared toward the battlefield below.

* * *

Far beneath the aircraft, Aerin and Avenor were trapped in the middle of a chaotic battlefield where the streets had become almost impossible to recognize. One of the Silver Moon brothers 'Shogun' had transformed the area into a nightmare, surrounding himself with dozens of upgraded Freakers, hundreds of Stars, and several elite Royal Guards.

The streets looked less like a city and more like a war zone.

Aerin swung her weapon through the first wave of Freakers and sliced through three of them in succession, their bodies crashing across the pavement as she immediately turned toward the next group. Avenor vanished from sight, her body becoming completely invisible before she reappeared behind another cluster of enemies and attacked them from their blind side.

Yet every time they managed to clear a section of the battlefield, another wave arrived.

There seemed to be no end to them.

Then—

CRAAAAAAAAACK!!!

A massive bolt of lightning crashed directly into the battlefield.

The impact was so powerful that everyone nearby stopped.

SWOOOSH!

The ground shattered beneath the strike, buildings cracked from the shockwave, and abandoned vehicles were thrown aside as dust and debris erupted into the air.

BZZZTLE!

At the center of the crater stood Monday Valhalla. Electricity danced across his body.

Aerin looked toward him and smiled.

"About time."

Monday slowly looked around at the enormous crowd surrounding them.

"Hmm."

He tilted his head.

"A little crowded."

Shogun narrowed his eyes.

"You again."

Monday completely ignored him.

Instead, he looked across the battlefield. There were Stars, Royal Guards, and Freakers. Thousands of enemies packed into the streets.

CRACK–CRACK!

Monday stretched his neck from side to side.

"Disgusting."

Then he raised a single finger.

SWIRL!

The clouds above Playmore began to move, slowly at first, then faster. The sky darkened as enormous storm clouds gathered above the battlefield, rotating in a vast spiral.

Aerin looked upward, and Avenor emerged from invisibility.

The Silver Moon brother's expression changed.

Then—

CRAAAAACK!!!

CRAAAAACK!!!

CRAAAAACK!!!

Lightning began falling from the sky, but the strikes weren't random, every bolt found a target.

BRRRZZZZ!!

One Royal Guard was struck directly through his armor, the impact blowing him off his feet as his body disappeared inside the explosion.

BRRRZZZZZ!!

Another bolt crashed into a group of upgraded Freakers, vaporizing several of them instantly.

Then another strike descended upon an entire formation of Stars.

BOOOOOOM!!

The formation was torn apart.

Another bolt.

KRAK-BOOM!!

Another group vanished.

Another, and another.

Within moments, hundreds of combatants had been removed from the battlefield.

Monday simply began walking forward.

Step.....

Step.....

Step.....

Each step he took sent a small shockwave through the pavement, while electricity continued snapping around his body.

BZZZTLE!

A Royal Guard suddenly rushed toward him.

Monday didn't even stop walking.

CLANG!

SHING!

SLING!

The guard raised his weapon.

Monday's fist moved once.

BOOM!!

The punch struck the man's armor with enough force to shatter it completely, sending the Royal Guard flying backward.

CRAAASH!

Another guard attempted to attack Monday from behind.

A thin arc of electricity immediately jumped from Monday's body.

ZZZRAK!!

The Royal Guard collapsed onto the pavement, smoke rising from his armor.

Monday glanced back.

"Too weak."

Meanwhile, far across Playmore, the King's forces had begun reporting losses.

Entire streets were being reclaimed. The Stars were being pushed backward. Royal Guard formations were collapsing.

And as if the situation wasn't already chaotic enough, the monsters Nyx had accidentally released were still roaming throughout the city.

Massive creatures emerged from shattered roads and collapsed buildings. Winged beasts hunted Freakers from the skies while towering monsters tore through groups of Stars and Royal Guards without any distinction between enemy and ally.

Nobody controlled them.

Nobody understood them, and because of that, they attacked everything.

SWOOSH!

CRAAASH!!

One gigantic creature charged through a Royal Guard formation and smashed several soldiers aside with a single swing of its enormous body.

"GWAAAARRR!!"

Another opened its jaws and swallowed an upgraded Freaker whole.

CRAAASH!

Elsewhere, a towering beast crashed into a group of Stars and sent them scattering through the streets.

Monday happened to watch one of the creatures run past him.

It completely ignored him.

A moment later, it charged directly into another crowd of Stars.

CRAAASH!

Monday blinked.

"...Helpful."

Aerin laughed.

"Those are Nyx's."

Monday stared at the creature disappearing into the distance.

"Your singer is insane."

Avenor nodded immediately.

"Very."
