Chapter 6 - chapter 6

Two hours since the crash. Clara and both of the pilots now hiding inside a cave, managed to get high enough from the infected reach.

"Got any signal yet?" Asked one of the pilot.

"None... seems we're crashing quite far from nearby city." His friend replied, still searching for signal on his cracked device.

"...Miss winter, you could get closer to the fire if you want to." He added after seeing Clara distancing herself.

"No need, I'll only freeze the air around you." She replied, sitting by the entrance and watching how the infected starting to swarming the mountain's foot.

She could escape if she want to, but with the two pilots behind her, it'll be difficult since they're not a mutant.

"We'll wait here until help arrives. The extraction squad should be deployed by now." She whispered, her voice carries easily inside the cave.

"...But then, they have to deal with that, aren't they..." The pilot said, concerned at the shaking grounds.

An unidentified infected creature the size of three stories building with a huge cannon-like part on it's face, walking on four and shaking the ground as it walking in a circle.

"They capable of avoiding that, I suppose." She muttered as the creature keep rotating it's head to it's surrounding.

Meanwhile, at the command room.

"...Found 'em." Flow stated, using her ability to pinpoint their position.

"They're currently hidin' somewhere around this mountain, from my calculations and Winter's way of thinkin'... they'll definitely hidin' in the highest point of the mountain, which is here." She's pointing at the specific part of the mountain, confident with her answer.

The Keeper scanning through the map one last time before approving her takes and looking at another operator nearby.

"Deploy the extraction squad posted in Joenranta. Tell them to pick up all three operator." The Keeper ordered.

"But Keeper, what about..."

"For now, it best to stay away from it. Tell them to ignore it and focus on the rescue."

"Roger that, Keeper!"

With that being said, the operator begin to calling for the branch office in Joenranta.

"Thank you, Flow." The Keeper added with a smile.

"It's nothin' big. But, Keeper... about the new creature..." She said with a rather pleading tone.

"Yes... I'll give the investigation to you like usual. Just make sure to not overcounting in the process again."

She nods with satisfaction and give the Keeper a respectful bow before leaving.

Three hours since the crash and the commotion outside has already receded.

"It's been three hours now and that monster not even leaving this place yet..." The pilot said after watching the creature staying still after a while.

"...Perhaps it's a territorial type." The other one respond with scepticism.

The behavior they've learned from the creature so far is that it's only moving it's head and rarely walking for more than a five step before coming back to it's original spot.

Sometimes the cannon-like head would following every moving target both in the air and the ground without shooting, as if it reconsidering the target.

Bzzt...

Their device suddenly catching up a signals.

"Bzzt...Ca-...bzzt...can...you..." The voice cracking through their comms, a sign of rescue.

"Yes! Thank God...I thought we'll be trapped here for days..." The pilot celebrated.

"Shh!! Lower your voice...!" The other immediately shut his mouth with his palm.

The signal still weak, indicating they're in the range of five kilometers radius.

"Extraction squad, do you copy." Clara said to her comms.

"We...bzzt...cop-...bzzt..."

"Avoid pursuing on open space. We have unidentified creature and it's better to not draw it's attention." She leave a message, hopping it'll reach them before the it spotted them.

"Copy...bzzt...that..." The communication end.

The two pilots finally relaxing, they looked so peaceful now that help about to arrive as they slumping against the walls.

"Wait... should we make a signal first? I mean they doesn't know where we at yet, right?" Nathan asked with realization.

"No need, Flow's already told them our exact location. Just wait for them to arrive." She said flatly, keeping her eyes outside.
