Near the eastern barracks, a soldier was checking the collar around a large war-beast's neck.
The creature resembled an armored wolf, although its shoulders stood nearly as high as the man beside it.
Thick plates covered its back, and sharp teeth protruded from its powerful jaws.
Normally, the beast remained obedient because of the enchanted collar controlling its movements.
But as the War-Breaker Pulse swept through the mountain, the magical connection inside the collar suddenly disappeared.
The beast raised its head.
Its ears twitched.
Then it looked toward the soldier standing beside it.
The man frowned.
"Easy, boy."
The creature growled.
The soldier reached for the collar's control crystal.
"Hey, calm down."
He pressed it.
Nothing happened.
The beast's growl grew louder.
Before the man could move away, the enormous creature lunged forward.
ROOOAR!
The soldier barely managed to jump aside as the beast smashed into the wooden fence surrounding its pen.
CRASH!
