Chapter 20 - Demonstrating power

Alright, the Russians are embarking on a war of conquest against all of Europe in the early 18th century. It seems someone is leading this operation, and I'm going to find out who it is.

Ding!

[Random mission: Destroy ten T-34 tanks]

[Reward: 3,000 AR-15 rifles]

Time to demonstrate a little of my power.

Marco flies for a few meters trying to find some kind of Russian outpost but finds nothing and senses through his Ki that the civilians were huddled together in one place.

Marco then asks Cooler:

"Where in Europe are we located?" Marco asks.

Cooler then replies:

"According to what my computer is saying, we are in Faenza, in the Papal States." Cooler replies.

Marco then says:

"So the Russians want to take over Italy? Let's see how committed the Russians are to facing a ruthless and focused mutant." Marco says.

Cooler then says:

"This time, I want to see if you'll stop holding back; there are no Avengers or X-Men to judge your actions." Cooler says.

Marco then says:

"Okay, let's ask the civilians for information; they should know something." Marco says.

Marco, in order to avoid causing panic among the population, does not appear flying, but rather walking normally.

Marco then arrives near the city and encounters two soldiers from the papal army and asks:

"What is happening in Europe?" Marco asks.

One of the soldiers speaks English with a strong Italian accent and replies:

"You must be the Sicilian soldier His Holiness spoke of, the hero of the Pyrenees." one of the soldiers replies.

Another soldier then replies:

"Rumors suggest that Tsar Peter the Great, after winning the Great Northern War, acquired knowledge from centuries ahead and armed his army with these weapons. The first nation to fall was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1710, the second was the Holy Roman Empire in 1711, and the third and fourth were the Kingdom of France and the Ottoman Empire. In 1712, the Kingdom of Great Britain fell and the Spanish Empire would be next, but miraculously, the Russians lost the Battle of the Pyrenees, causing the Russian momentum to diminish. Now the Russians are on a campaign to conquer the Italian Peninsula; the Kingdom of Sardinia has fallen, the Republic of Venice has fallen, and now the Papal States, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, and the rest of the Italian Peninsula are also at risk." another soldier replies.

Marco then asks:

"Did the papal army manage to contain the Russian advance?" Marco asks.

One of the soldiers then replies:

"Three weeks ago, a large part of the papal army lost the battle of Bologna, and the Russian army is advancing in the Emilia-Romagna region. His Holiness, Pope Clement XI, ordered a retreat. The papal army is gathering as many people as possible to defend the city of Rome." one of the soldiers replies.

Marco then asks:

"Are you going to retreat? What will happen to the civilians who are in the cities?" Marco asks.

One of the soldiers replies:

"We're already evacuating, but we can't take everyone; they'll have to hide from the Russians." one of the soldiers replies.

Marco then says:

"You can stop the evacuation now, reinforcements have arrived." Marco says.

One of the soldiers then asks:

"Where are the reinforcements? I only see one person." one of the soldiers asks.

Marco then channels energy into his hand and fires a blast of energy that destroys a forest, leaving the two soldiers terrified.

One of the soldiers says in Italian:

"Santo cielo! Quest'uomo è in grado di distruggere le bestie meccaniche dei russi!" says one of the soldiers in Italian.

Marco then asks:

"What are their names?" Marco asks.

One of the soldiers replies:

"My name is Renato." Renato replies.

Another soldier replies:

"My name is Matteo." Matteo replies.

Marco then says:

"Alright, Matteo and Renato, you can tell the people of Faenza that anyone who wants to flee to Rome can go, but those who stay will have to follow my rules." Marco says.

Marco then senses the presence of a large number of Russian soldiers approaching Faenza and orders Matteo:

"Matteo, go back to the city and start letting them know that reinforcements are coming." Marco orders.

Marco then uses his speed and goes to where the Russians were coming from.

...

Marco arrives at the location where the Russians were approaching and sees ten T-34 tanks, 2,500 assault troops, and 1,000 marines.

Marco sees the flag of the Russian Empire waving above the T-34 tank, breathes a sigh of relief, and says:

"They don't want to revive the Soviet Union in the 18th century, they just want to conquer Europe like Napoleon did." Marco says.

Marco flies and launches several energy blasts at the Russians, and thousands of gray orbs come towards Marco.

Ding!

[Random mission: Destroy ten T-34 tanks (complete)]

[Reward: 3,000 AR-15 rifles]

A portal opens and several AR-15 rifles appear for a few minutes until the portal closes.

Cooler gets down on the floor and asks:

"Will you need any help?" Cooler asks.

Marco then replies:

"Of course, carrying that many weapons isn't for just anyone." Marco replies.

Cooler uses his telekinesis to levitate all the weapons into the air and says:

"With these weapons, even an illiterate peasant can become an elite naval rifleman." Cooler says.

Marco then says:

"We will have to speed up the process of introducing technologies that are two centuries ahead, because the Russians control almost all of Europe." Marco says.

Cooler then says:

"Alright, let's destroy the Russian dream of conquering all of Europe." Cooler says.

Marco launches a flight back to the city of Faenza, and Cooler uses his telekinesis to take all the rifles to the city of Faenza.

...

At the Russian headquarters in Milan, Italy, Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Vladimir Dmitrovich, nicknamed "The Conqueror of Vienna," receives a curious message via telegraph.

One of the soldiers says:

"It's a message from the Bologna trading post, reporting the disappearance of a column in the city of Faenza." says one of the soldiers.

Sergei then reads the message.

Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Vladimir Dmitrovich, the 245th Marine Battalion, the 287th Marine Battalion, the 45th Armored Cavalry, The 75th, 250th, 125th, 202nd, and 101st infantry battalions had their signals cut when they were near the city of Faenza.

Sergei then says:

"We should not fear; the Papal States do not have sufficient technology to confront us head-on. Furthermore, new technology is being developed in Paris, Vienna, and Constantinople, and by all indications, Rome will fall by the summer of next year, and then we will have Rome, Constantinople, Berlin, Vienna, London, Jerusalem, Baghdad, and Cairo in our hands. The Portuguese and Spanish have no way to defend themselves against our advance." Sergei says.
