Grey Castle Territory
"Hehe!" Ed chuckled as well, because he didn't know how to respond except to laugh.
Carly just asked him if it was a disease to sit by a fire in the summer.
Ed was just experimenting with how well the coal briquettes he made worked. He thought they were okay; not particularly good, but not particularly difficult either.
" Lord Ed, I've heard of a disease that causes shivering and chills. I've also heard that being around sick people can make you sick, so you should stay away from sick people." Carly's cautious gaze darted back and forth on Ed, as if she was ready to run away at any moment.
Seeing her comical appearance, Ed shivered involuntarily.
"Ah!" Carly turned and ran, forgetting even the question she was about to ask about how the black mud could burn.
"Haha." Ed was overjoyed as he watched Carly's flustered figure disappear into the distance.
"Master, what are you laughing at? Where did Carly go?" Adelaide had just come out of Castle Hall when she heard Ed's loud laughter and saw Carly running away.
"It's nothing, she might be sick," Ed said dismissively.
"Are you sick? You're sick and you're running so fast? Are you alright?" Adelaide was really puzzled. Wasn't she perfectly fine just now?
"Hmm, no problem. Take a look at these things first, what do you think?" Ed pointed to the burning coal briquettes in front of him.
Adelaide followed Ed's instructions and came to him. A black sphere surrounded by several stones was burning on the ground. She had seen these black stones before, but she did not expect that these black spheres could burn.
"Master, are these the black spheres you left out to dry a few days ago? They're quite amazing. I didn't expect them to look like charcoal. Did you make them out of charcoal?"
"Pretty much! Adelaide, we can use this to keep warm in the winter from now on." Ed didn't want to explain the coal now; he could just treat it as something like charcoal.
"Master, isn't this the same as charcoal? Why make it into this spherical shape? It's completely unnecessary." Adelaide didn't understand why they would make the charcoal into this spherical shape. Wasn't that just a waste of time?
"Oh, it is like this, Adelaide. This is what we traded for in the valley. It's a little different from charcoal. It needs to be made like this so it's easier to burn."
Hearing this, Adelaide was puzzled. Who would be willing to trade charcoal? Charcoal is a necessity in winter. What a bunch of fools.
"That's great, Master. If we exchange more, the people in our territory won't be afraid of winter anymore."
"Yes, Adelaide, Eric is keeping a close eye on the situation in the valley."
Ed knew that Eric hadn't been in the territory these past few days.
" Adelaide, I'll teach you how to make this black sphere. Then go to Red Iron Village and teach Chief Smith how to process all the black stones in the Red Iron Village warehouse and make them look like this."
"Yes, Master."
So Ed began to demonstrate again the method he had used to make coal briquettes that day.
...
Before long, Adelaide learned how to make coal briquettes.
" Adelaide, why are we walking to Red Iron Village? What about the wooden bicycle?" Ed was puzzled. Wouldn't a bicycle be faster? Why walk now?
"Hehe, Master, Bicycle" "Carly broke it, so she took it to Uncle Roderick to get it fixed." After saying that, Adelaide ran off. The reason she ran off so quickly was that the bicycle falling apart wasn't entirely Carly's fault. She had also contributed a lot and helped a lot.
"It broke so quickly? The quality is terrible! I must tell Roderick to make things more durable in the future."
Watching Adelaide leave, Ed extinguished the coal briquettes; if the fire had continued burning, he would have gone mad.
