"Master, your idea is indeed very good, but now that we need to make many different kinds of Savory Biscuits, the three of us alone cannot complete it."
Adelaide ate another cookie. After getting used to sweet cookies, eating this Savory Biscuit was a rather unusual experience. She felt that the more she ate, the better it tasted.
" Adelaide, have Roderick build a food workshop next to the castle, together with that fine goods workshop. I'll draw up the blueprints for you later. You'll manage these two workshops for now, as they're both quite important."
These two workshops are the ones Ed plans to set up inside the castle, where food and luxury goods will be produced. They've been planned for a while, but construction hasn't started yet; now it's time to begin.
"Yes, Master. But in this way, everyone will know how to make these cookies."
Adelaide is still very concerned about this issue; she now possesses the secrets to many valuable things.
Ed didn't think it was a big deal; if someone knew, they knew, it wasn't anything extraordinary. However, considering that cookies are used as military rations, if others learned how to use them, wouldn't that give the enemy an advantage? For now, it's best to be cautious.
" Adelaide, how about this: from now on, when making cookies in the workshop, each worker will only be responsible for one thing. For example, the one who kneads dough will only knead dough, the one who beats eggs will only beat eggs, and the one who bakes will only bake. This way, everyone will only know what they are doing and will not know the whole process of making cookies."
" Lord Ed, you are truly amazing! How did you come up with such a brilliant idea? How is your brain structured?"
Carly slammed her hand on the table and looked at Ed incredulously.
Ed was startled by her and said with great displeasure, " Carly, can you please not stand up and yell like that all of a sudden, you know?"
"Okay, I'm afraid you can't hear me." Carly sat down dejectedly, a stark contrast to her earlier excitement when she slammed her hand on the table.
"You think I can't hear you?" Ed looked at Carly, who seemed to have done something wrong.
"Yes, I have reason to doubt it."
"Heh! What reason do you have to doubt it? There's no problem communicating with you at all." Ed was so angry he laughed.
"No, you still haven't answered my question."
"What's the problem?" Ed asked, somewhat puzzled.
"See? I told you I was right. You even said you could hear me." Carly instantly perked up, completely changing her previous 'lasting breath' demeanor.
Carly's words forced Ed to recall his conversation with her, but he had indeed forgotten the earlier issue while arguing with her.
"Oh, Carly, then ask again in a low voice." Ed couldn't remember, so he had Carly repeat herself.
Carly stood up with a smile on her face, all traces of her previous unhappiness gone.
"Lord Ed… I ask you, how did you develop such a brilliant mind?" Carly shouted, enunciating each word clearly. And this last sentence was even louder than the previous one; it could probably be heard outside the castle.
Ed covered his ears; the power of this sonic attack was not to be underestimated, and it made his ears ring.
" Carly, can't you keep your voice down? Did you eat too many cookies?"
Adelaide, who was standing by the door, had actually gone to tidy up the table when the two of them started talking. She knew they were going to chat about something pointless again, and she was going to wait until they were done talking before coming over. But she was the one who got attacked by their voices.
"Haha, Sister Adelaide, Lord Ed said he couldn't hear me, so I had no reason to refuse. I could only raise my voice a little."
" Adelaide, don't listen to her. I told her to keep her voice down, but she's doing it on purpose."
"No, I'm afraid you won't be able to hear me if my voice is too soft."
Ed: "I can hear you."
Carly: "I'm afraid you can't hear me."

Carly: "..."
