After breakfast, Ed planned to go find Fir Tree to ask about the situation. He was currently in charge of maintaining order and some security within the territory.
The Police Squad's new camp is right next to the city wall, and it's quite a walk from the Peace Hotel.
"My lord, you're here so early today?"
"Yes! My lord, it's rare to see you this early."
As Ed walked from Chenghua Avenue to Peach Road, he encountered many villagers who greeted him.
Most of these villagers eat at the Peace Hotel, even though they can cook at home.
Because the food there is so delicious, they don't cook it at home. And it's inexpensive, with a wide variety of dishes. So they only cook at home occasionally.
Ed was puzzled by the villagers' greetings. "You didn't see me this morning? That's just bad luck, there's no other reason."
"Hehe!" Ed chuckled. He was quite pleased with his explanation.
After arriving on Peach Road, he encountered fewer people and soon reached the new camp of the Police Squad.
There weren't many people in the camp yet; some might have gone to have breakfast, or perhaps they were on patrol.
"Greetings, my lord."
"Good morning, my lord. What brings you here so early?"
Someone in the camp greeted Ed.
"Yes, hello. Is Captain Fir Tree here?" Ed looked at the people who greeted him. They were dressed in uniform leather armor. Their longswords were shorter than the Knight Swords of their territory. Of course, in addition to the longswords, they also had a wooden stick as a weapon.
"My lord, Captain Fir Tree is inside the house."
Stepping into the only house in the camp, the white walls and windows on all four sides made the house very bright.
"My lord, what brings you here?" Fir Tree quickly stood up from the wooden desk.
"Hmm, let me take a look. This house is quite nice! It's just missing a row of benches. If someone comes over, there won't be a place for them to sit."
There was only one room, complete with a fireplace and other amenities, but Ed was somewhat disappointed by the lack of a bench, as there was only a wooden table and stool.
"Yes, my lord, Roderick said he's very busy right now, but he'll make a few more when he has time."
Hmm, Ed remembers now, Roderick has probably been working on that Bicycle like crazy lately, so he hasn't had time.
"Alright, Fir Tree, none of that's urgent. Have there been any problems with the territory lately?"
This is Ed's main purpose for coming today. He wants to see what problems the Police Squad has encountered since its inception, as prevention is always better than cure.
"Yes, my lord, there are still some issues. For example, the punishment for the fight last time was based on three of your copper dragon coins. If the same thing happens again, I will punish it the same way. Shouldn't the territory establish a standard for what punishment should be given for what mistake is made?"
"Yes, Fir Tree, that's an excellent question, but it needs to be improved gradually; it's not ready yet. In the future, there will be fixed standards for these things."
"Yes, my lord. There is another problem. The territory is getting bigger and bigger, and we don't have any horses to ride. It's very troublesome to patrol now. Even if something happens, it takes some time for our team members to get there. It's difficult to arrive at the scene in time."
"Hehe, Fir Tree, this problem should be solved soon." Ed smiled. Roderick's wooden bicycle wasn't very good, but it should be fine for use within the territory.
"Really? My lord, you permit horses to be ridden in the territory?"
