"Today's match is about to end, and the prizes there will soon find their owners. Let's look forward to the next game."
After Ed finished speaking, the eight people on stage began to draw numbers for the next round of matches.
"Oh my god! Oak Barrel's opponent is Villager Ding, which is great news for Villager Ding. But for the lovely Mr. Oak Barrel, it's very bad news. It seems your tournament journey is coming to an end." Ed joked, seeing that the atmosphere wasn't too tense.
"Ha ha."
Ed's words made everyone laugh, and the square immediately became lively.
" Mr. Oak Barrel, you don't seem to agree with what I'm saying. If you have something to say, please speak up." Ed said with a grin, looking at Oak Barrel.
"Yes, my lord, you said that luck is also a part of strength. What if Uncle Villager Ding suddenly has something come up at home and has to give up the competition?"
Oak Barrel looked down at the audience and spoke loudly.
"Yes, we all believe Oak Barrel is very lucky." The audience members chimed in in support of Oak Barrel.
"Hehe! What could possibly happen at home? Just focus on the competition and win the prize." Ellie muttered to herself, then quickly gave her husband on stage a reassuring look.
On stage, Villager Ding understood immediately. "Hmm, you're certainly lucky, but now you've run into me. Let me take you home, kid." Villager Ding looked at Oak Barrel, his resolve unwavering.
The final matchups were: Oak Barrel — Villager Ding, Alice — Salty Fish, Smith — Cheng Long Smith, and Meishuge — Salty Fish.
Oak Barrel was indeed quite lucky. In the first round, Oak Barrel was wiped out and had no chance to fight back, and was quickly defeated.
However, this made Villager Ding somewhat complacent, and he played more casually in the second game, still lacking tournament experience. A chess game is like a battlefield; one cannot underestimate their opponent.
So, taking advantage of Villager Ding's carelessness, Oak Barrel seized an opportunity to win back a game. Oak Barrel has some skill to get this far, and it's not all just luck.
Villager Ding panicked a bit. He regretted his carelessness, but there was nothing he could do now. He could only be extra careful in the third round.
"Huh?"
Not long after the third round began, Villager Ding heard a rooster crowing. "Do roosters crow during the day now?" he wondered. "Could it be that it came to my house to crow?" He recalled his earlier conversation with Oak Barrel.
Oh no, it must have run into my house. It might be that bastard Villager A's chicken.
"It's your turn to go, Villager Ding," the referee on the side reminded him when he noticed that Villager Ding hadn't made his move yet.
Villager Ding was startled and quickly checked the chessboard. There was no problem, so he placed the piece he had already planned.
Oak Barrel quickly placed one as well; his Invincible Underpants Formation was already complete, and he was secretly pleased.
"Huh?"
Villager Ding also noticed the problem. Wasn't this the invincible underpants formation that everyone knows about? How did he get caught? Oh no, he's going to lose this round. He's going to lose to that kid Oak Barrel too, and Villager A is going to laugh at him.
I can't let him laugh at me, I can't lose this round, what should I do? Right, didn't Oak Barrel say this before the match?
"Referee, I have an emergency at home and I'm forfeiting the match."
"Huh?" The villagers below the stage were somewhat incredulous. Oak Barrel was right; Villager Ding really had to withdraw from the competition due to family matters.
A moment later, Ed went up to the platform again.
"Next, let's congratulate Alice, Smith, Meishuge, and Oak Barrel for taking the top four spots in this competition."
"Oh! Oh! Oh!"
The crowd below the stage cheered.
"I especially want to say that Oak Barrel is a really lucky kid. His opponent did have to withdraw from the match because of family matters. Let's congratulate him again."
Oak Barrel, you are the best.
" Oak Barrel, if you win an award, remember to share some with me. I'll shout it the loudest."
