Inside Castle Hall, Ed is chatting with Eric, who has just returned.
Eric gestured excitedly as he described the trip, ignoring the chilled iced tea in front of him.
"My lord, you have no idea! The Gypsum Mine in that valley has all been dug up and piled up in the open space, as if it was prepared specifically for us. This is truly astonishing."
Eric's words surprised Ed as well. Such a good thing had happened? He finally understood why Eric had returned so quickly.
It seems that others had already mined the ore, and Eric simply went to retrieve it without wasting any effort.
Ed was a little confused about what the lord who was mining in the valley was thinking.
Were these Gypsum Mine a benefit they gave him? Or a condition for their agreement? To prevent him from robbing them?
"Hehe! That's interesting."
Ed laughed. If that was the case, then he had to admire the other person's excellent manners. Should he bring them two chicken legs next time he visited? After all, the other person had already done so much; he couldn't pretend not to notice.
Seeing the lord laugh, Eric thought the lord was laughing at the fools who prepared ore for them in the valley.
"My lord, it is indeed quite amusing. Those foolish fellows knew they were digging the wrong hole the first time, yet they still dug up so much more."
"Well, let's put this matter aside for now. Let me think about what to do next."
Ed already knew from the initial conversation that the Gypsum Mine he brought back would last a long time. Perhaps he could loosen the restrictions on using the Gypsum for painting walls. Hmm, he'd find an opportunity to talk to Roderick and have him try it out first.
After all, Ed wasn't a construction expert; he just had a lot of knowledge and knew the functions of various things. But to actually manufacture and use them, he still needed to go through repeated trials.
"By the way, Eric, this is your first time leading a team out on your own. Did you encounter any problems?"
After his initial excitement subsided, Eric took a sip of ice water and replied with satisfaction, "My lord, it's really not used to not having this ice water outside. You've said that lake water shouldn't be drunk casually, and the ale we drink isn't very good either. We're also eating dried salty fish, and with the hot weather, we can't bring too much bread."
Life in the territory is so much better now than before. If they leave the territory now, it's like going back to the hard times they used to live.
Ed knew that Eric's question about food was indeed a problem. If they wanted to go to farther places, they had to solve the food problem, and they needed to make the food delicious and preserve it for a longer time.
However, this is not an easy task, and Ed has no solution for the time being.
"We'll figure out a solution later. Oh, by the way, why don't you go see Adelaide? It seems like her quartermaster status isn't very useful."
Just then, Adelaide and Carly returned.
"What do you need me for? Captain Eric, go outside. I've already made arrangements."
"Oh, you've come at the right time. As you can see, the people in the territory are used to drinking this ice water now. You also know what the food at the Peace Hotel is like. Now everyone is a little unaccustomed to going out. I'll ask you, the quartermaster, to figure out a solution."
Adelaide hadn't really thought about these things. Life in the territory was indeed a bit too good right now, but most of these Peace Hotel items were difficult to take out, including the ice water, which contained flower petals and would likely spoil quickly in the hot weather.
