The miners in the work sheds are all taking a break because it's almost lunchtime.
It was so hot outside that no one really wanted to go to the Peace Hotel for food, as it was too hot to walk there and the journey was quite long.
Ding Xiang was washing her hands by the stream in the mine, her hands holding rose pact The soap was given to her by Chief Smith because she was the only female miner in the mine and therefore received some special treatment.
