As the outer cloth was unwrapped, the mysterious item inside was revealed.
People around looked curiously at what Ma Sike was holding—a white, blocky object.
"Lord Ed, this is a good item that I had someone buy for me. It can clean clothes and is very useful."
Ma Si Ke treasured this item greatly; he had spent a fortune buying it from those noble lords. However, he only bought one piece, partly because it was quite expensive, and partly because he was afraid that if he bought too many, Lord Ed would refuse them, which would cause trouble.
Now he can't even demonstrate how to use the item, so he can only describe it in a simple way.
Fortunately, Ed was a discerning buyer, but discerning doesn't necessarily mean he would buy. What Ma Si Ke was holding was a bar of soap, and not even very good one, it didn't even have a fragrance.
Seeing Lord Ed's expressionless face, Ma Si Ke panicked. This stuff was more valuable than the bag of walnuts; if he couldn't sell it, he'd be in big trouble.
"Lord Ed, this stuff is really excellent. I've seen other lords use it; it's incredibly effective at cleaning clothes." Ma Si Ke could only explain again, but Ed still didn't respond. Just as the deal was about to reach a stalemate…
"Mr. Ma Si Ke, I want this." Adelaide bought the item; there was only one of them anyway. It wasn't that she really liked it, but Carly was pulling her along.
Carly knew her father quite well; it seemed that item had cost a considerable amount of money. However, she couldn't afford to buy it herself; she had given all her bronze dragon coins to her father last time, and she didn't have many left.
The food she eats and the things she uses here also require copper dragon coins.
Ed didn't stop Adelaide from buying it, since there was only one piece available.
"Mr. Ma Si Ke, is there anything else? If not, you can buy things here and we'll wait for you next door for lunch. Of course, I'll pay with copper dragon coins."
So Ed and Adelaide left the department store first, while Carly stayed behind with her father, worried that they wouldn't be able to find a private room after disembarking.
Carly watched her father select items without interrupting, but she could offer some suggestions regarding items he might use for future transactions.
Ma Sike quickly selected the items. "Father, you can bring some seeds that are not available here, strange minerals, and spices and the like in the future."
"Carly, there are some things we don't recognize, and those precious things can only be obtained from noble lords. I'm just starting out now, so I can't buy them at all."
Carly wasn't very clear about those goods either; her father probably knew more about them than she did now. However, in the past, the market mainly sold ordinary items, and she rarely saw anything she didn't recognize.
Ma Si Ke's caravan crew began loading goods onto the small carts outside, and Ma Si Ke also took a small jar from one of them and handed it to Carly.
"Carly, this is honey from Carlo. He bought it especially for you. He only took a little bit from the jar himself; the rest is in this jar. Your mother also said the paper you gave her was very useful."
Carly's eyes were a little red. She quickly ran to the All Things Department Store and exchanged all the bronze dragon coins in her wallet for soft paper.
"Father, please take this paper to Mother, and these two wooden boxes to Carlo. There are some things he likes inside." Ma Si Ke silently placed the items in the car. He knew that after this trip back, he might not be able to come back for a while.
But since Carly is willing to stay here, let her stay! She's doing just fine here anyway.
"Father has something good to show you." Carly looked at her father, who was silent and somewhat withdrawn, and decided to surprise him. It would also help ease her grief.
Ma Sike stared at the gleaming silver mirror in Carly's hand, genuinely surprised. He couldn't even begin to calculate its value.
"Carly, where... are you from?" Ma Si Ke stammered.
"Hehe, Lord Ed gave one to Sister Adelaide, and also gave one to me." Carly was very pleased with her father's performance.
"Carly, how can you just take this out like that?" Ma Si Ke was very dissatisfied with her daughter's behavior.
"Hehe, Father, I know. It's fine here, but I won't take it out casually outside. Now that everything's taken care of, let's go get something to eat!"
Carly's method was somewhat effective; the sadness quickly subsided, and the group walked towards the next room, chatting and laughing.
