The storm hit without any real warning, flooding the main road back from a business trip nearly two hours outside the city. Damien had brought Silveria along to a meeting with a fabric supplier he thought might interest her for future collections, an easy day trip that turned into something considerably more complicated when the bridge back toward the city flooded entirely and the only hotel in the small town had exactly one room left available.
"One bed," the clerk said apologetically, sliding a single key across the front desk counter. "I'm terribly sorry, everything else is fully booked because of the storm. We simply weren't expecting this many travelers stranded tonight."
Damien's jaw tightened visibly. "We'll take it."
