'Basil Xavier?'
Stella Sterling was a little surprised to hear his name.
'Why would Basil Xavier be looking for me? And why didn't Gordon Ford come instead?'
'He looked anxious, too. Could something have happened?'
She tapped her fingers, her expression unreadable. "Tell me everything. What exactly did he say to you?"
"Mr. Xavier came looking for you about 10 days ago. We let him in since he's a friend of yours. He was desperate to see you, so I told him you were away and hadn't returned. I asked if there was a problem, but he wouldn't say. He just asked us to tell you to look for him when you got back, if you have the time. Or, we could just notify him that you've returned, and he would come to you."
Stella Sterling frowned. That was as good as saying nothing. 'I still have no idea what's going on,' she thought.
'But considering Basil Xavier's abilities and the power he has backing him, what could possibly have happened to make even *him* anxious?'
