"I don't drink."
Su Chen shook his head.
The wine Chen Xuan had brought was White Confucian Wine.
It was indeed a fine vintage.
But it was too bitter.
He'd stopped drinking that particular bitterness long ago.
"I never intended to give you any in the first place."
"I'm drinking it myself!"
Chen Xuan drank, sobbing out his grievances.
He recounted the tragic story of his life.
He had been separated from his family during a popular uprising, and then, through a strange twist of fate, he had become a Eunuch just for a mouthful of food—suffering the cut, no longer a complete man.
Even when he found his relatives, he didn't dare acknowledge them. In the Imperial Palace, he was bullied relentlessly and forced to eat grass scraps. It wasn't until he met the Purple-robed Thousand Years that his life turned around.
"Thousand Years was a good man."
"But why don't good people get what they deserve?"
"He also fought for the common people."
