Inside the cabin, Hugo Summers was holding Pippa, sitting on a wide leather seat with an expression sourer than a lemon.

Hugo Summers scrambled to soothe him, one moment lifting him high into the air, the next pulling out his phone to play a cartoon, then digging a chocolate bar out of his pocket and waving it around.
But Pippa didn't even glance at any of it. His little fists were clenched tight, and tears streamed down his face.
The boy's crying had Hugo Summers sweating bullets. Four- and five-year-olds are the hardest to deal with. He muttered to himself, "My little lord, you really are my lord and master..."
