Caleb Carter was pissed off too. "I'm not calling."
As he said this, he started to pull out his phone to call the police, but just as he unlocked it, Kian Miller swiftly snatched it away.
Caleb Carter lunged forward, reaching to grab it back. But before he could get close, Kian Miller landed another clean hit.
Caleb Carter felt a fresh, sharp pain explode over his right eye socket, a perfect match for the one on his left. He saw stars, and the whole world started to spin.
Kian Miller cracked his knuckles, a pleasant smile still on his face. "Sorry about that, Mr. Carter. You keep rushing me. What was I supposed to do?"
With that, he handed the phone he'd snatched from Caleb Carter over to Jett Westgate.
Jett Westgate took it. His long fingers swiped across the screen a few times until he found the contact labeled "Mr. Patterson," then he pressed the call button.
RING... RING... RING...
No answer.
He hung up and dialed again.
RING... RING... RING...
Still no answer.
