Lin Xiaoli asked over the phone—after all, her son was rarely home—"Ranran, are you coming back for dinner tonight?"

Seeing her meaningful look, Lin Zhengran knew what she was implying. "I'm not coming back for dinner tonight. I'm eating out with someone. I'll be back later tonight."
Lin Xiaoli was pretty used to this. "Not coming back again? All right, then. Your father and I won't wait for you. Be safe out there, Ranran."
