Lionel Langley's pupils constricted violently, and his breathing grew rough and heavy.
His eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Claire Sterling without a word.
After a long moment, not until a drop of blood trickled down Claire's neck did he finally tear his gaze away from her face. His voice was weary and weak as he said,
"As you wish. I'll have my lawyer contact you tomorrow."
CLANG. The dagger clattered onto the marble floor. Tears streamed down Claire Sterling's face as she smiled. "Thank you for granting my wish, Mr. Langley!"
Lionel Langley's heart clenched violently. For a moment, an uncontrollable pain seized his chest.
He called for his bodyguards and had them take Sabrina Ainsworth to the hospital. He, meanwhile, leaned against the wall by the door, slowly composing himself.
Seeing that something was wrong with him, Mrs. Langley approached with a worried expression.
