"Brother Tang, are you aware of the recent string of disappearances in the Old District?"
Lin Yi looked at Tang Zhan.
He spoke with a faint smile.
When he finished, the smile on Tang Zhan's face was gone.
He met Lin Yi's gaze and gave a slight nod.
"I know a little."
"Since you know, why hasn't the Public Security Bureau fulfilled its duty and searched for the missing people?"
"Or have you simply condoned this kind of behavior?"
Under Lin Yi's interrogation, Tang Zhan's brows knitted into a tight knot.
He didn't utter a single word for a long time.
He was the captain of the Public Security Bureau in the Old District.
He had long ago developed a lazy disposition.
Or rather, ever since he made a mistake in the New District and was demoted here to the Old District.
He had fallen into this mindset.
He was sent here to reflect on his mistakes and reform.
But he chose to let everything rot, doing nothing about anything.
