A mischievous glint flashed in Felix Vaughn's eyes. "Why can't I be here?"
This was his territory; he could be wherever he pleased.
"You were eavesdropping on my call?" Ashlyn Paige tightened her grip on her phone, lifted her chin, and puffed out her chest. No matter what, she couldn't show any weakness.
Felix Vaughn shrugged innocently. "Unless you have some dark secret you're afraid I'll hear?"
He actually hadn't intended to listen for long, just catching a few sentences as she began to speak.
'Good thing Ashlyn Paige couldn't hear his thoughts, or she would have coughed up blood from sheer rage. Damn it, that's what he calls 'not listening for long'? He's been listening since the very beginning of the call, and he dares say that's 'not listening for long'?!'
A flicker of guilt crossed Ashlyn Paige's mind, but her expression remained like that of a feisty little beast. "I have nothing to be afraid of."
