Hearing the gentle voice of the little female, the unconscious Zerev slowly opened his eyes.
"Ophelia, are you okay?" The very first thing Zerev did upon waking was to sit up and check Ophelia for injuries.
Though the bottom of the cliff was pitch black, his eyes had night vision.
"I'm fine, but your injuries..." Ophelia trailed off, shaking her head.
As soon as her hand touched Zerev's arm, it was stained with a sticky liquid.
"Why are you so foolish? You knew he did it on purpose, so why did you let yourself get hurt?"
Zerev didn't seem to mind. With his uninjured hand, he gently stroked Ophelia's cheek. "I don't care. I just want you to be safe."
Ophelia was about to speak but suddenly felt dizzy and fell unconscious once again.
"Ophelia! Ophelia, what's wrong?"
Zerev gathered Ophelia in his arms and tried to rouse her, but no matter how much he called out, she showed no signs of waking up.
