Zoe Rhodes instinctively wanted to explain. She had no idea where Donovan Donovan had gotten such a ridiculous idea, or why he believed it so deeply.
But the words died on her lips as a sense of powerlessness washed over her.
Communicating with Donovan Donovan felt like talking to a brick wall.
Anything more she said would just be a waste of breath.
It was better to just let him think what he wanted.
Once he'd made up his mind about something, he wouldn't listen to anyone else's explanation.
Explaining was useless, but not explaining also seemed to be a mistake.
Because in Donovan Donovan's eyes, her silence was tantamount to admission.
Donovan Donovan gripped her face and snorted. "I knew it."
"..." Zoe Rhodes desperately wanted to roll her eyes at him, but she forced herself to hold back.
She squeezed out a smile.
To Donovan Donovan, that smile looked no different from a curse.
She hadn't said a word, yet it felt like she'd hurled a torrent of insults.
