Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: True and Fake Heiress

Yan Haotian quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "All right, all right, let her go. Don't worry, Mom. She'll regret this sooner or later." His sister's return was a joyous occasion. Why dwell on whether that girl stayed or left?

He had always thought that since his IQ was quite high, his sister's shouldn't be much different, or at least not too far off. However, Yan Ningyue's grades had always been somewhat unsatisfactory. He had constantly wondered what the problem was. It wasn't until his father revealed that Ning Yue wasn't a Yan Family member, and that his biological sister had been found, that it all made sense. Even though his biological sister had endured hardships since childhood and lived in extremely poor conditions, her grades still ranked in the top ten of her class. At that moment, he felt that this was exactly what a Yan Family member should be like! If Yan Ningyue wanted to leave, so be it. It would save her from being an eyesore to their family!

Mother Yan finally broke into a smile. She took her daughter's hand and instructed her husband, "Since that girl is gone, you should change the two children's household registrations tomorrow. If she doesn't care to be the eldest daughter of the Yan family, she shouldn't take up space in our family register anymore."

Father Yan agreed with a chuckle. "I'll just have the assistant handle such a trivial matter. Qingqing has suffered so much since childhood. If you ask me, our whole family should accompany Qingqing shopping tomorrow. She won't need her old clothes anymore; we'll replace everything with new ones. Besides, her room should be redecorated. We'll furnish it in whatever style Qingqing likes.

"Butler, take the eldest daughter to pick a room. She can stay in whichever one she fancies."

Yan Haotian said indignantly, "Dad, you're too biased. If my sister takes a liking to my room, do I have to give it up for her?"

Father Yan replied ruthlessly, "Of course!"

Yan Haotian instantly slumped onto the sofa, putting on a heartbroken expression that made the whole family laugh.

Yan Qingqing said with a smile, "Don't worry, Haotian. I won't steal your room. The house is so big; I can stay anywhere."

Mother Yan immediately praised her, "Look at that, my daughter is so sensible. She would never do anything so annoying."

Young Master Gong's eyes were full of tenderness as he looked at Ning Qingqing. Now that Qingqing had returned to the Yan family, they could openly be together!

Meanwhile, outside the Yan family's villa, 009 suddenly popped up. "You certainly left in style, even returning the bank card to the Yan family. That girl named Qingqing didn't return her pocket money to the Ning Family. Now you've made yourself comfortable, but you don't have a single penny on you. How are you going to find your biological parents? Are you planning to walk the entire way?"

Ning Yue paused in her tracks, realizing she had suffered a loss. She should have withdrawn some cash on her way home from school. Thinking of the address she had just memorized, she wondered how long it would take if she actually walked. The main problem was that this body simply didn't have the stamina. She would be completely exhausted after walking just a mile. Damn it, she had been too impulsive!

"I thought you would stay with the Yan family and expose Yan Qingqing's true colors step by step," the System said. "I didn't expect you to choose to leave right away."

"I remember you saying that the original owner's wish was to take good care of her biological parents and exact revenge on the domestic abuser who caused her death," Ning Yue replied. "Dealing with Yan Qingqing was only if she had the capability."

The original owner was clearly a kind-hearted girl. The reason she said she would only deal with Yan Qingqing if she had the capability was undoubtedly because she felt the Yan family protected Yan Qingqing too well. Without power greater than the Yan family, no one could deal with Yan Qingqing, who later married Gong Yuze.

"You could have taken care of your biological parents while staying with the Yan family," the System pointed out. "Besides, how are you going to deal with that domestic abuser if you don't stay with them?"

That marriage had been arranged by a Yan Family member. Now that she had returned to the Ning Family, the Host would have no interaction with that man.

Ning Yue ignored it. Did it think she was a fool? Why would she continue to stay with the Yan family? Fighting a whole family all by herself would only result in her being chewed up and spit out, leaving nothing but bones behind. She was just a complete novice with absolutely no experience! A novice!

"System, how about you give me a cheat?" she asked.

"Don't call me System. My designation is 009. You can call me by my number," it replied.

Ning Yue had only been bound to the System and transmigrated over today. She had arrived right when school ended. It hadn't even been two hours in total. She wasn't familiar with the System yet and had no idea it even had a designation.

"Oh," Ning Yue replied as she walked. "So, where is my cheat?"

"I don't have one," 009 said.

A look of disgust appeared on Ning Yue's pretty little face. "You're really useless."

"How am I useless?" 009 protested. "I'm actually very impressive, okay?"

"Elaborate," Ning Yue challenged. "What's so impressive about you?"

009 fell silent.

"You're useless and you won't even admit it!" Ning Yue said.

009 hurriedly pondered over its own strengths. After a long while, it finally noticed something was wrong. "Host, if you keep walking forward, you won't be able to return to the Ning Family tonight. You're going in the opposite direction."

Ning Yue stumbled and nearly tripped over her own feet. She quickly tried to salvage her pride. "Who said I'm going the wrong way? I just want to try my luck up ahead and see if I can hitch a ride." After saying that, she quickly composed her expression and continued to stride forward, pretending that she had been telling the truth.

Surprisingly, 009 was actually fooled by her. It hurriedly checked their surroundings, and a sports car really did appear by the side of the road. What amazed 009 the most was that the car had just driven out of the villa area and had already moved forward, but for some reason, it reversed back.

It was simply outrageous! Even if she wanted to find a car, she shouldn't have looked in the opposite direction, yet its Host had actually managed to come across one.

The car didn't stop until it was right next to Ning Yue, and the window rolled down.

"Yan Ningyue? Where are you going? Do you want me to give you a ride? Where is your family's driver?"

Ning Yue was left speechless. She was starting to believe that she really did have Golden Carp Luck. Knowing she had no money, a free driver had delivered himself right to her doorstep.

The person speaking was Zhang Weize, the biological older brother of the original owner's classmate, Zhang Jiayin. The two girls had been in the same class during their freshman year of high school, but were separated into different classes in their sophomore year. They usually had a decent relationship, so naturally, she knew Zhang Weize.

"Thank you," she replied, and then gave him the address of the Ning Family. With that, she walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, and got in.

Zhang Weize was momentarily stunned. This young lady seemed a bit different from before. She actually dared to get into his car and genuinely wanted him to give her a ride.

"It's already dark. What are you going to do there?" As far as he knew, the place Yan Ningyue mentioned was an old, dilapidated residential area.

"I have something to take care of," Ning Yue said.

Sensing that the young lady was somewhat reluctant to talk, Zhang Weize simply focused on being a chauffeur and concentrated on driving. The car fell silent for a while. After about forty minutes, the vehicle stopped outside the gates of an old residential complex.

Ning Yue thanked him again. Zhang Weize waved his hand dismissively, then turned the steering wheel. The flashy red sports car sped off and quickly disappeared into the night.

"This neighborhood is a bit too old," 009 remarked. "Host, will you be able to get used to living here? How could it possibly be as comfortable as the Yan family's home?"

Ning Yue ignored it. The environment of the neighborhood was indeed not very good, but it wasn't to the point of being unbearable. It was nothing more than the buildings being a bit older, the neighborhood being more crowded, and a little more chaotic.
