Chapter 2 - New Nature.

Ray smiled as he heard the cheers and chants coming from the center of the village

He pulled his eyes away from the large flame burning in the distance and faced his house here in the Gu world, if it could even be called a house.

The little crude shack was far from the gu master section of the village and also far from the houses of other mortals with the closest house being a minimum of twenty meters away.

He sighed

Reaching forwards to the wooden slab that served as a door to his shack and paused.

'That's right, it has no handle.'

The wood slab was like some crude iteration of a sliding door with a thin hole dug into the ground simultaneously keeping the 'door' standing and also allowed him to drag it to the side with less effort.

And so he did

The inside of the shack was just as depressing as the outside, barely enough space that didn't even make up the size of one room, just enough for him to lay flat down in all directions.

The roof of the shack was also quite low despite looking as if the height had been roughly altered

His situation seemed to be abysmal

'Makes sense given the story that had been crafted...'

He did not know how to feel about it.

The memories of his existence had been implanted into the world and also his mind for convenience. Well, that was a bit inaccurate. It was more so that the mortals had a memory of he he was, immortals and beings of such a level would naturally not know him

What did this mean?

It meant that everyone in Gu Yue Village, more specifically those who needed to know - knew him and either fortunately or unfortunately, Fang Yuan would not know him.

For not at least

'Do those gods enjoy an underdog sort of story?'

The story that had been crafted was quite sad honestly and a bit infuriating

As a young boy, 5 years old at best, he was running around and playing and had accidentally bumped into the 'guard' of the village. That guard was a Rank 2 Gu master that seemed to have had a bad day and released a bit of anger.

By slaughtering his mother and father and even going as far as to kill the family of the next closest house

As a result the child of bad luck was born and ostracized from the mortal village as well.

'Did it have to be as depressing as my real life?'

He thought and to his surprise

Something responded.

[The tale you weave is entertainment for the gods. The truly powerful must start from the bottom.]

It seemed that the system had tagged along with him, it initially was a surprise but not a real shock. Quite a few reincarnation things occurred like this

'But...'

What is its purpose?

What was it?

Was it just to be a watcher? To relay his actions to these gods?

He did not know

So, he asked

'What is your purpose in being here?'

[I am a helper, gifted by the gods to assist in your growth.]

For now at least it seemed that it was not a threat, perhaps it would never be a threat actually - why would he be reincarnated only to be disposed of

Well...

'Is that not what happened to Fang Yuan? Being used by not only the Venerable but also Heavens Will and then they both attempted to dispose of him?'

Regardless

There was nothing that Ray could do

Or more accurately, nothing that Yuxuan could do

That was the name he had been given in this world and it was the name he would need to use from now on, the name Ray was very clearly out of place here and though attention was not a bad thing, unwanted attention could be.

'What exactly can you do?'

[I can perform the abilities of a Land Spirit that had been born from an obsession.]

[I also contain all known knowledge from your life and will continue to record such information.]

[I can act as an advisor based on the situation.]

[I can perform the same actions that you would be able to.]

Ray smiled

It seemed that he had a reliable helper

He was especially glad that it could behave as a land spirit and a land spirit born from an immortal meaning it would have many abilities but above all those he had a main question he needed an answer to

The answer could dictate a lot of the things he would do in the future.

'Can you access treasure yellow heaven?'

He asked as he sat down on the ground within the house.

The voice remained silent for a few seconds as if contemplating what answer it could give.

Ray knew very well that the system could access the immortal trade point, it was partially responsible for sending him to this world as well as responsible for granting his wishes even though it was technically courtesy of the gods

Was accessing a trade point difficult when you pulled someone from death and tossed them, possibly across realities?

[Yes.]

He smiled

The ability to access treasure yellow heaven paired with his soon to be one thousand immortal essence stones was going to give him a bigger edge than he already has

Fang Yuan had returned to the past and had to focus on growing as a mortal before becoming an immortal. Ray could do both right now.

Well, not right now

'In one month'

Rank 10 Essence stone gu generated 1000 immortal essence stones every month that passes in the gu world. If he brought essence stone gu into the real world out of his aperture it would take 60 months to produce the first batch

Getting the immortal essence stones would be good regardless since he could store them for future but he wanted to trade as soon as possible and now he knew he could do so without having connecting heaven gu and divine sense gu which weren't a challenge to refine

It was just a matter of gathering the refinement materials which he most likely would be able to do in Shang Clan City if he chose to not raid random clans which just felt like unnecessary work

But with the systems confirmation in its ability to access treasure yellow heaven he could begin preparations for his immortal life and even expedite his mortal life and aperture's progress

'Speaking of which...'

What would be the aptitude of his mortal aperture?

He did not know what his talent was or if he even had any, perhaps tomorrow he could approach the ceremony and come out a regular mortal

He had no way of knowing

Perhaps he would have no talent, perhaps an A grade talent or even have one of the extreme physiques

Thankfully for him

Whatever the aptitude was did not matter since he could increase or decrease his talent once he gets his immortal essence stones

But that meant wasting an entire month

If he was mortal he would have no choice other than to wait the month, then he would purchase a gu to give himself talent and use other gu to increase the aptitude to a satisfactory grade

If he had any talent, even D grade there was something he could do

It all depended on him

'What grade will it be?' He smiled softly

The voice did not respond and Ray felt that it would not, not because it couldn't but because the suspense was better than simply knowing

He closed his eyes and started to think

'Fang Yuan has returned and right now should be in his room'

He brought his hand and rested his head on it

'When would the best time to use Eternal Brotherhood Gu on him?'

That gu was designed specifically to neutralize him as a threat and simultaneously gain him as a ally

He did not want to do it in front of everyone and would have a lot of opportunity to try since Fang Yuan was more or less a loner

[The best time to execute the plan based on your specifications is when Fang Yuan leaves to find the liquor worm.]

'Ah that's right, you're an advisor too.'

[That is correct.]
