Chapter 12 - Master Vey

Eventually, they arrived at the Embercrown Arsenal—the only weaponsmithy in the upper inner ring of the Chambers City.

Felix's knowledge about the Embercrown Arsenal was only on the surface.

As far as I know, the head blacksmith, the owner of this building, is a Beast Tamer Lord Rank 1. However, he's disabled and retired.

Lucia drove through the parking lot of the Embercrown Arsenal located on the underground.

Krisha took the chance to initiate the conversation, confident that Felix's knowledge about the Embercrown Arsenal was superficial.

She said, "Did you know? The Embercrown Arsenal Elites are specialized in spirit resonance forging? It means, they create a weapon that grows as the tamer grows.

In other words, the weapon develops spirits as the wearer progresses in his comprehension with the sword.

However, weapons like that are forged or finalized by Master Veyrion Ashfall."

Felix was intrigued. He asked, "From what I know, Master Veyrion is a disabled person."

Krisha shook her head. "He once was. He lost his left arm during the Border Beasts War 2, but it was now replaced with a refined molten-steel prosthetic engraved with runes. He retired to Chambers City and established Embercrown Arsenal."

Krisha turned towards Felix and grinned.

"And you know what's amazing? He was born in Clark City, but he decided to establish his name in this city. Simply because grandpa and him are best friends and he owes his life to grandpa.

In fact, it was grandpa who proposed to him to retire in Chambers City."

Felix asked, "Was he always a blacksmith?"

Krisha nodded. "Well, he once was a battlefield artificer who forged weapons during the Border Beasts War 3. Of course, there are still others better than him, and most of them retired to S-grade cities like Clark City for better opportunities. He knew that A-grade cities would be behind in the future if they lacked a weaponsmith on the same level as him, so he retired here."

Their conversation was interrupted as they left the car and proceeded to the entrance.

Krisha and Felix walked side by side, while Lucia ambled in the same pace as her miss behind her, surveying the surroundings discreetly.

Krisha continued the conversation, "I asked Father yesterday if Master Veyrion is interested in you. He loved weapons more than any other, so he should be interested in your summon.

Unfortunately, Father gave a vague response. It's not surprising. Master Veyrion is an eccentric old man.

I wanted to ask grandpa to share the news about you to him, but I haven't heard any news from grandpa ever since he passed the responsibility as mayor to Father."

Felix was silent for a while and asked, "Aren't you worried about your grandpa?"

Krisha shook her head. "Not really. He's strong, stronger than father. He's also been in countless wars against beasts before, so he can take care of himself even when he's growing old.

Also, we have an artifact back at home placed in my father's office. It will be broken if he dies. It gives us an idea of his condition, too. He's more filled with vitality than when he was younger."

Felix was surprised. He was interested in the artifact.

They passed through the door after greeting the security guard and were welcomed by a hostess wearing a suit.

Unlike Lucia, she has an insignia of the Embercrown Arsenal on her left chest, above it was her badge name.

She professionally said, "Welcome, young ma'am and sir. Have you had any reservations with any blacksmith?"

Krisha shook her head and replied, "No. We are planning to inquire first. Are there any blacksmiths available today?"

The hostess replied, "Certainly, what do you need for?"

Felix noticed the hostess was staring at his old, dully rusty sword.

When the hostess glanced at Felix's face, her eyes slightly widened. However, she quickly composed herself.

He must be the one who summoned a sword instead of a beast. I should inform Master Vey about this!

As Krisha was about to reply, the hostess hastily said to her, "About this… it's for him, right? I was informed by Master Vey that once he arrived here, he wanted to be the one to create a scabbard for him."

Krisha was surprised.

"Did he really say that?"

The hostess nodded with a smile. "Yes, but he told us not to inform you. He wanted the kid to come here by himself."

Krisha frowned. "Why would he think of coming here? He comes from a humble background. There's no way he thought of getting a scabbard from this place."

"Because I knew you would bring him here."

A rasped voice echoed behind them, startling them awake.

Felix and Krisha quickly turned around and saw a tall, silver-haired man, seemingly in his late forties by his appearance, with ember-orange eyes, standing behind Lucia, grabbing her shoulder.

Lucia smiled bitterly. Before the old man talked, he pressed her shoulder before she could react. She knew that a Beast Tamer Lord was behind her.

Not perceiving any hostility from the Beast Tamer Lord, she did not make a move yet. She also had an idea of who the Beast Tamer Lord was.

The hostess greeted the Beast Tamer Lord first, bowing deeply.

"Greetings, Master Vey."

Felix quickly reacted and bowed deeply. As soon as he sensed Krisha bowed as well, he exclaimed, "Good morning, Master Vey."

Krisha followed him. "Good morning, Master Vey."

Master Vey did not respond. He suddenly appeared in front of Felix, bending his waist, just to stare at the Flowing Rain Sword in Felix's hand closely.

Felix asked the Guide, "Is it okay to give the sword for him to see?"

[Yeah. He's already a master. He has developed sword intent.]

Felix was surprised. He did not hesitate to push the sword to Master Vey and exclaimed, "You can look for it yourself, Master Vey."

Master Vey was surprised. He smiled and accepted the hilt of the sword.

He scrutinized it closely and heard a faint noise of the spirit.

His eyes widened.

He tried to inject his energy that was already cultivated to develop affinity with the sword, but just when it touched the hilt of the Flowing Rain Sword, it was strongly negated.

Master Vey was shocked.

He bursted into a hoot of laughter.
