Chapter 2 - Episode 2: The Way You Look at Me

🌈✨Aarohi didn't believe in change.

Not sudden ones.

Not the kind that shift your world overnight.

But Meher…

Meher wasn't slow.

She was a storm.

"Come with me."

It was a command, not a question.

Aarohi looked up from her book. "Where?"

Meher grabbed her wrist, already pulling her up.

"You'll see."

Ten minutes later, they were on the college terrace.

The city stretched endlessly beyond them—lights flickering, wind rushing, the sky turning a soft shade of orange.

Aarohi pulled her hand back slowly.

"You could've just asked."

Meher smirked.

"And give you a chance to say no? Never."

Silence.

Not awkward.

Not heavy.

Just… full.

"Do you trust me?"

The question came out of nowhere.

Aarohi frowned. "What kind of question is that?"

Meher stepped closer.

"Answer it."

There was something in her eyes—

something intense, something unreadable.

Aarohi's heartbeat quickened.

"I do."

"Then close your eyes."

Aarohi hesitated.

"This again?" she murmured.

Meher raised an eyebrow.

"Scared?"

Aarohi exhaled… then slowly closed her eyes.

For a moment, there was nothing.

Just the sound of wind…

and her own heartbeat getting louder.

And then—

Warmth.

Meher's hand gently holding hers.

Not pulling.

Not rushing.

Just… holding.

"Open your eyes."

Aarohi did.

And froze.

The city lights had fully come alive now—tiny stars scattered across the ground.

But Aarohi wasn't looking at the view.

She was looking at Meher.

Because Meher… was already looking at her.

Not playfully.

Not teasingly.

But softly.

Like she was seeing something she shouldn't.

"Why do you look at me like that?" Aarohi whispered.

Meher didn't answer immediately.

Her thumb brushed lightly against Aarohi's hand.

"Like what?"

Aarohi swallowed.

"Like… I matter more than I should."

For the first time—

Meher didn't joke.

Didn't deflect.

Didn't run.

"Because you do."

The world went quiet.

Too quiet.

Aarohi felt her chest tighten.

"Meher…"

But the name got lost somewhere between fear and something deeper.

Before anything else could happen—

A voice interrupted.

"Meher!"

Both of them turned.

A group of students stood at the entrance of the terrace.

Laughing. Watching.

Judging.

Meher's hand slipped away instantly.

Like it was never there.

Like it meant nothing.

"Coming!" Meher called out casually.

Casually.

Like nothing just happened.

Aarohi felt it again.

That small, sharp crack inside her chest.

Later that night—

Her phone buzzed.

Meher: Don't think too much about today.

Aarohi stared at the message.

Her fingers hovered over the screen.

Then slowly typed—

Aarohi: Then stop making me feel things I shouldn't.

Seen.

No reply.

And somewhere, in another part of the city—

Meher sat alone in the dark.

Phone in her hand. Eyes closed.

Fighting a battle she couldn't let Aarohi see.

Because loving Aarohi…

was already becoming dangerous.
