Chapter 3 - Newborn

Even in frustration, life still has to go on.

To Páng kè this sentence made sense now.

Although he is being pulled toward the purple universe, since there is no concept of distance in the void, he has no idea when he will be swallowed.

Maybe it'll happen countless years from now, or maybe in the very next second.

Of course, since time doesn't exist here, neither "countless years" nor "one second" are real concepts—his perception of time is nothing but an illusion.

In this process, Páng kè obviously has nothing to do, and he can't think of any way out of this situation.

After all, he can't even move.

But at least… he can take a good look at the so-called system he somehow evolved.

As soon as he mentally calls for "System," a translucent lilac-colored interface appears in his mind.

It has three basic functions:

InformationRecordingAnalysis

The Information section displays some basic details about him:

Name: Páng kè

Gender: None

State: Soul Form

Race: Void Soul Life Form

Physique: None

Soul Level: Unknown

Some of this was analyzed by the system, and some he already knew instinctively.

The Recording function seems self-explanatory—it accurately records all information he perceives.

The Analysis function, as the name suggests, systematically analyzes information and gives an objective breakdown.

In general, this system isn't as overpowered as the golden fingers in online novels, but… it's useful.

"So it's just an evolved ability, huh? No overpowered exchange function, no free treasures or skill draws."*_

Páng kè is a little disappointed.

Compared to the cheat-like systems in novels, this one is pretty mediocre.

But… better than nothing.

Still, it's worth testing.

He gives the system its first command:

"Analyze a way out of my current predicament."

"Mission set: Analyze possible escape from the Purple Universe.""Searching memory data…""Simulating possible escape methods…"

Simulation complete:

Method 1: Wait for death.

Method 2: Wait for death.

Method 3: Wait for death.

"Analysis complete: Unless a miracle happens, survival is impossible."

"...You've got to be kidding me."

Páng kè wants to curse.

"The best you can give me is 'wait for a miracle'?! Then why the hell did I even bother asking?!"

But in the end, what can he do?

His last hope—the system—has failed him.

And yet… he isn't panicking.

Because there's no point in worrying about something beyond his control.

"Might as well enjoy the view before I die," Páng kè sighs.

"It's not like feeling bitter will help. And hey… who knows? I could still get my miracle."

Deep down, he doesn't really believe in miracles.

But the funny thing about miracles?

They come when you least expect them.

The Purple Universe has flaws.

They're well-hidden, carefully concealed, but flaws are flaws.

This universe tries to steer all the void's "stray existences" away from these weaknesses, but with one in a trillion odds, something will eventually slip through.

And even though this universe has an automatic defense system to eliminate anything that does break in, there's still one in a trillion odds that something will pass through undetected.

Páng kè… is the one in a trillion.

He miraculously slips through and enters the universe.

For a powerful existence, breaking in would have triggered immediate rejection.

But Páng kè is too weak—so weak that he isn't even noticed.

And just like that, he survives… and arrives in a brand-new world.

The Multiverse.

The moment Páng kè enters, his perception is heavily suppressed.

The endless nothingness he was used to is gone, replaced by strange, incomprehensible "things" that flood every inch of his surroundings.

He wants to examine these mysterious entities, but before he can—

A massive sense of crisis erupts from deep within his soul.

"Run. Hide. Blend in. Do not be discovered. DO NOT be discovered. DO NOT be discovered. OR YOU WILL DIE."

The warning comes so suddenly, but Páng kè trusts his instincts without hesitation.

"I need to escape—but how?!"

System Analysis:

"You are being targeted by the universe's repulsion effect. Once the repulsion reaches its limit, the universe's cleansing mechanism will activate."

"I could've figured that out myself," Páng kè thinks, but he has to admit—the system's speed and accuracy are impressive.

"System, analyze countermeasures!"

Analysis complete:

Recommended solution: Immediately "register" your existence within the universe.

Method: Possess a newborn lifeform within the universe. (Note: Target's soul level must be lower than your own.)

"So I need to steal someone's body… Fine. I just need to find the right one."

Páng kè turns his attention to a massive plane (world) nearby.

Without hesitation, he rushes toward it.

Since he is still in a void-state, the plane's barrier doesn't block him.

The barriers of a world exist to stop things from escaping—not to prevent things from entering.

Once inside, Páng kè spreads out his perception, scanning for a suitable newborn.

Countless creatures.

But…

Some have poor talent. Some have bad social standing. Some aren't even intelligent beings.

"Damn it, why is every single option trash?!"

Páng kè is running out of time.

The pressure of the universe's rejection is intensifying—he needs to act NOW.

System Alert:"Unknown lifeform detected. Wrapped in special energy—unable to analyze.

Logical inference: High chance of superior talent."

"A mystery, huh? Should I risk it?"

With no time to hesitate, Páng kè rushes toward a small, hidden egg deep in the jungle.

A faint green glow surrounds it.

There is no dramatic soul battle.

The newborn soul inside is unformed—mindless and fragile.

Páng kè crushes it effortlessly and takes over the body.

And the moment he succeeds—

The universe's repulsion vanishes completely.

Now, he is registered as a creature of this world.

The threat is gone.

…But he can't do this again.

His perception is now limited. His soul is now bound to the laws of the universe. His identity is permanently set—he has ONE chance, and only one.

"Alright," Páng kè exhales, "time to see what I've become."

He instinctively avoids using perception to check.

After all, in this world, every magical creature is born knowing their race instinctively.

If he tries to "perceive" it, the universe itself will tell him.

So, instead—he opens the system.

And when he sees the result, his heart stops.

"So… is this a blessing or a curse?"

"...Let's see how Lao Tzu's luck plays out."
