I couldn't stop thinking about what she said.

"What do you want me to say?" I asked. "You're telling me we've met, but I don't remember you."

"Yeah, that's kind of the problem," I muttered.

She smiled faintly.

"Come on," she said, changing the subject. "Let's work on the project."

We sat down, but neither of us focused.

Every time our hands brushed reaching for the same paper—

Everything felt… louder.

"Do you always make things this complicated?" I asked.

She looked at me, eyes steady.

"Only with you."

My heart didn't like that answer.
