"What's on your mind?"
He walked over and put his hand gently on her shoulder.
She paused for a moment before suppressing the uneasiness in her heart. She pretended to be fine and said, "Nothing."
She shook her head, but the tight grip on her hand betrayed the anxiety in her heart.
He saw that, but he did not expose her. Instead, he sat next to her and said, "I promised not to ask, so I won't ask. However, you promised me that you would no longer worry about it."
As he spoke, he poured her a glass of hot water.
Hearing his words, Yvonne felt a little guilty. She had promised James not to think about it anymore, but sometimes she couldn't help it.
She paused, reached out to take the glass of water, and held it in her hand. After a moment of silence, she said, "Actually, it's not that I can't tell you about it, but I have no idea how to say it. This man holds the key to my mom's reputation, so I can't take the risk without knowing the truth."
