Chapter 5 - Everybody Lie 5

"We should talk to the patient..."

House opened a drawer in his desk, from the drawer he took out a box with donuts.

'This is very American but my body needs a lot of energy...' House thinks while opening the box with donuts.

"Is she a doctor?" House said simply before biting a donut with pink sugar coating.

"No, but..."

"Everybody lies..." House said after swallowing the donut and before biting another piece of the donut.

"The doctor does not like dealing with patients" the young doctor who was on the side said at this moment.

'Cameron...' House thought of a name.

After swallowing a donut House's stomach stopped giving trouble. After recovering a little energy House was able to start thinking about other things.

For now House does not want to bother with a patient where clearly his best friend is lying about saying she is his cousin.

Although a part of House feels curiosity about why this patient has the -Wilson Protection-. The oldest part of House is meditating about something else.

'Did you do this? Did you bring me to a fictional world?' House looked at a black book that appeared quietly on the desk.

None of the three young doctors has noticed the book.

A spark wanted to light a memory deep in the memories of his previous life. But it had not managed to light that candle.

Even when he saw Wilson and Cuddy he could barely grasp that brilliant light in the abyss of his memories.

But after satisfying his hunger a little, he can think about that fleeting thought from a moment ago.

When the young doctor spoke, House looked at her for a moment, with his penetrating blue eyes almost shining.

Allison Cameron, the youngest doctor on House's team at Princeton-Plainsboro, twenty-five years old with a perfect appearance between a mix of sweetness, intelligence and vulnerability that contrary to all other men, House deeply rejects.

Cameron is a young girl of medium height, around one hundred sixty-five centimeters, with a slim but feminine figure, soft and natural curves that show under her white laboratory coat. Her skin is fair and luminous, with a natural rosy tone on her cheeks that intensifies when she blushes or gets emotional. She has light brown hair, almost blonde in some highlights, straight and silky, which she wears in a low practical ponytail. Her bangs fall softly over her forehead, giving her a youthful and innocent air.

Her eyes are large and expressive, a clear grayish blue that seems to change tone depending on the light: sometimes sky blue, sometimes more stormy gray when she is worried or angry. Her eyelashes are long and dark, and her fine, well-defined eyebrows frame a gaze that conveys empathy and determination at the same time. Her nose is small and straight, her lips thin but well-formed, usually with a touch of transparent gloss or soft pink lipstick that highlights her shy but warm smile.

Cameron's personality is not to House's liking, neither in this life nor in the previous one when he saw her on a small screen in moments when he had to survive with his head buried in the mud.

But Cameron is really an exceptional girl. Finishing her specialty in Immunology at the age of twenty-five is really incredible. Reason why House when he saw her curriculum hired her.

The other two doctors, Foreman, the one who in twenty years in the story will represent forced inclusion, now thirty years old was hired for his career in neurology. It is easy to understand what he specializes in.

And Chase, the pretty and rich boy who has studies in Intensivist, in the previous life House had no idea what this is, but in the current memories of his new life he has it clear.

Chase is the one in charge on the team of keeping critical patients alive. That simple. He is the medical specialist in intensive care medicine or critical care. His main job is to attend to patients who are in critical or very unstable condition, such as those in coma, with multi-organ failure, after very complex surgeries, in shock, with severe sepsis, massive traumas or any situation where life is in immediate danger and they need constant life support.

Dormant memories of a very old series appeared in House's mind. Now he knows very well in which universe he was reborn.

Thinking that he only went back fifty years in the past, but now it seems that he not only traveled to the past but to another world, perhaps a parallel world.

"Is not that what we became doctors for?" Foreman responds to Cameron.

"Nop~

We are doctors to treat diseases.

Treating people is what psychologists do, and I think you already know what I think of psychologists..."

"So you try to eliminate humanity from the practice of medicine" Foreman spoke with a touch of sarcasm in his words.

"Humankind is overrated...

I do not think it is a tumor. Do a magnetic resonance imaging"

"First year of medicine!

If you hear hooves think horses. Not zebras" Foreman emphasized.

"Is she in her first year of medicine? No.

First, nothing comes out in the tests, second, if it is a horse, her kind family doctor or the specialists in her hospital would have made the diagnosis and she would not be here...

If it is not a tumor, what do you suspect, why does she not speak...

Go. Magnetic resonance imaging, let's see what kind of zebra we are dealing with"

After the young doctors left, House was able to finish the box of donuts in peace.

Even with a whole box, House's stomach still feels unsatisfied.

'The energy consumption is large. Maintaining this illusory form is exhausting in the long term. Besides, the energy spent repairing the disaster in my living room was significant.

But, now I am a doctor, I cannot go back to doing what I did before and steal energy from other people...'

House's left hand is on the black book, caressing the cover as if it were a pet.

In the previous life, when he learned to read the book and began to learn from the knowledge on the pages of the book. He learned that the energy the book talks about is about the so-called vital energy.

As a great scientist who investigated energy knows that things like soul and spirit do not exist and were things invented in humanity's ignorance. The only real thing is science.

Things like gods and ghosts only the gullible would believe. Later, when he fell into disgrace, he discovered that the world is not as small as he believed.

Of course, there are still things like gods in which he will not believe. And if there are, he is ready to fight against them. Because now he knows that one thing is to worship and believe and another is to know.

Among the pages, the few pages he could open, of the black book, House learned that, apart from the electrical energy with which the brain works and with which information is transmitted in the nervous and neuronal network of living beings, there is also another -energy- that gives -life- to beings. At least to carbon-based creatures.

This energy is born inside the creature's body, and is guided by a -consciousness- and this energy also maintains the consciousness and gives it existence.

Without this energy, the body even if it has food in its stomach and its vital organs are healthy and strong, will die.

At first House believed that this energy is the so-called soul but he was wrong. Later he believed it was the spirit but he was also wrong.

Later he suspected that this vital energy is part of a law of the universe, but the black book does not say this. But it is thanks to this energy that ten years after being discredited and persecuted like a rat crossing the street he achieved his revenge. He helped in the creation of clean energy that would change the course of humanity and with this same energy stored in his cells after so much time he took his body to a point of self-explosion that destroyed an iconic building of the largest religion in the world.

Now, with House analyzing his body, cell by cell, he is amazed and glad to have a large amount of this vital energy circulating inside himself, but after casting this pair of -spells- his joy ended. Although his body generates a lot of vital energy passively now, it is barely enough to maintain his illusory state and cast two pairs of spells and fall unconscious afterward.

House, after thinking a lot, stood up from his seat at the desk and was preparing to go this time to the hospital cafeteria, when the three little doctors returned with an expression of defeat.

"They forbade us from using the scanner..." Cameron said with a look of embarrassed apologies.

"Who?"

"Dean Cuddy"

House felt the headache returning now...
