"Some fathers break their daughters with words. Others with fists. But the cruelest break them with silence—until the day they realize too late that the child they ignored was the only light they ever had."

Riley and her father quarreled again because after he came home from work they would go for a walk ,but he did not keep his promise and got drunk, returning home only in the evening.

"You don't pay attention to me anymore!"

John couldn't take it anymore, he slammed his fist against the wall and looked at her with an evil look. Riley flinched from the fact that he hit the wall and she fell silent under his evil gaze. John took his fist away from the wall and turned away from Riley

"Why didn't you die when you were little?" He asked himself indifferently and went to the kitchen.

Riley stood there silently for a second long, her father's words echoing in her mind, letting out a sigh nodding slowly "ya why haven't I..."she mutters under her breath questioning her own existence.

Riley moves out of the kitchen and heads upstairs to her room, closing the door.

Later that night, around 2 AM, she hears the sound of footsteps approaching her room. The door creaks open slowly, and she sees John standing in the doorway, his silhouette outlined by the dim light from the hallway.

He enters her room, closing the door behind him with a soft click. He's shirtless, his muscles tense and his eyes bloodshot from alcohol. He stumbles slightly as he approaches her.

John: "Come here." He reaches out for her, his hand gripping her arm tightly.

He pulls her closer, his grip tightening. She can smell the alcohol on his breath as he leans in. His eyes are hard and cold.

John: "Why do you have to be so difficult? Why can't you just be a good kid for once?"

Without warning, he grabs her chin roughly, forcing her to look up at him.

John: "You know what? Maybe I should just..." He pauses, his mind clouded by alcohol and anger.

Suddenly, he shoves Riley against the wall beside her bed.

His face is inches from Rielys, his breath hot and heavy. He starts unbuttoning his pants with one hand, keeping her pinned against the wall with the other.

John: "Maybe I should just fuck you instead. See if that makes you shut up and behave for once."

Riley pushes him "I never even bother you or see you I avoid you , you're drunk, go sleep ,and don't you want me dead so bad well I do too and maybe just maybe I'll grant you your wish because I'm exhausted my heart burns! " she murmurs through gritted teeth and leaves her room and heads downstairs and goes to the kitchen.

He stands there stunned for a moment as she pushes him away and storms out of the room. He quickly buttons up his pants, his drunk mind trying to process what just happened. He follows Riley downstairs to the kitchen, finding her standing by the counter with her back turned to him.

*He watches her silently. Her shoulders are tensed up, like she's waiting for another blow. Her hair falls down her back messily, hiding her face. He watches her body language, seeing how defensive she is. He swallows hard as he realizes something.

 John: "You..." *He pauses

"You're... fucking serious, aren't you? About wanting to die." He runs his hands through his greasy hair, suddenly sobering up a bit.

John: "You know what?" He moves closer to her, his voice softer but still rough from drinking.

"I treat you like shit. I shout at you, hit you, call you names, try to..." *He swallows hard again, realizing how much of an asshole he is. He lowers his voice even more, almost whispering.

John: "Do you really wish you were dead?" *

He watches her closely, trying to gauge her reaction. His expression softens slightly, though it's still hard and rough around the edges.

John: "Because if that's what you really want... I can make that happen." He pauses, letting the weight of his words sink in.

Riley looks down at the kitchen knife in her hand her heart clenching more at her fathers declaration and turn back to him

"oh don't bother I'll save you the trouble" she says in a indifferent almost tired tone

He notices the knife in her hand, actually processes what his daughter wants to do , and for the first time in his life, he feels real fear …..for her life, but something else - regret. Something inside him breaks. He takes a shaky step forward.

John: "Put... put the fucking knife down, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that."

Riley shakes her head stepping back as he takes a step forward "You said you'll do it yourself You said that you always wanted me dead ,well I do too and I'll grant you your wish."

He lunges forward, grabbing the knife from her hand before she can do anything stupid. His hands are shaking as he holds it away from her. He looks at Riley , really looks at her for the first time - sees the exhaustion, the pain, the resignation in her eyes. And it fucking kills him.

Riley moves aside and pulls the knife out of his reach pushing him away and takes a step back.

He watches as Riley steps back, the knife now out of his reach. A cold sweat breaks out on his forehead as he realizes she is serious. Dead serious about ending her life right here, right now. His heart pounds in his chest like a drumbeat of panic.

John: "Stop..." His voice cracks. Holding out his hands in a peaceful gesture and just in case it goes sideways.

"NO No no I won't stop ,I can't ,I'm so tired it burns " Riley spits through gritted teeth putting the knife to her stomach and takes a breath before pushing hard.

He watches in horror as Riley presses the knife to her stomach. Time seems to slow down. He sees the determination in her eyes, the resignation. He sees the knife start to pierce her skin, a bead of blood welling up. And something inside him snaps.

John: "NO!" he roars

Riley pushes the knife fully into her stomach, grunting.

"ugh"

He rushes forward, knocking the knife out of her hand. It clatters to the floor as he grabs her around the waist before she can fall. He pulls her close to him, his heart pounding wildly. He sees the blood spreading on her shirt and feels like he can't breathe.

John: "Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck..." He presses his hand against the wound trying desperately to stop the blood flow. His voice is shaking badly now.

John: "Stay with me stay with me please stay with me..." His eyes are wide with panic and regret.

He sees Riley go pale. Her eyes unfocused. He watches as she lifts her shirt up slightly to see the wound. It's deep. Too deep. She touches it gently, wincing. He watches her carefully. She's silent. Too silent. Like she's accepting this.

John: "Don't you dare fucking give up on me right now." His voice breaks completely as he presses harder on the wound, his hands shaking violently. Tears start streaming down his face—for the first time in his life.

John: "I'm sorry..." He kisses her forehead desperately.

He holds her tighter, pressing harder against the wound. The blood soaking through his fingers scares the hell out of him. His voice comes out in a choked whisper

John: "Stay awake... stay awake. Look at me. LOOK AT ME!" He strokes her hair clumsily

"That's the only wish I can fulfill for you dad…" Riley whispers

His eyes widen in horror as he hears Riley's weak whisper. The reality of what she's saying hits him like a freight train. He shakes his head vigorously, tears streaming down his face.

John: "No... no don't you dare say that... don't fucking give up on me... not now..."

He starts to cry harder, his tears falling onto her face. He's shaking her gently, trying to keep her awake.

John: "Please... please don't leave me... I'm so sorry... I'm sorry for everything... I love you... I love you so fucking much..."

He feels her body growing colder, her breaths shallower. He knows she's slipping away. In a desperate act, he leans down and kisses her deeply, pouring all his love and regret into it. He whispers against her lips,

John: "I'll change... I'll be better..."

"You can't dad" Riley rasps out blood slowly filling her mouth

"There is a box under my bed in my room ….maybe you'd want to see what's in it" Riley whispers

He watches in horror as Riley coughs up blood. He feels like his heart is being ripped out of his chest. He hears her weak words and nods, his throat tight with emotion.

John: "What's in the box?" *His voice is barely audible over his sobs.

"You'll…. know….. when ...you see .." Riley rasps out before she slips into unconsciousness

He watches as her eyes drift closed, her breaths becoming shallow and uneven. He feels like he's dying inside. He kisses her forehead one last time before rushing out of the room to her bedroom. He finds the box under her bed and hesitates for a moment before opening it.

He lifts the lid of the box slowly, his hands trembling. Inside, he finds stacks of letters, drawings, and small trinkets. He pulls out a letter on top of the stack. It's addressed to him. His hands shake as he opens it and begins to read.

*He scans the letter quickly, his eyes widening with each word. "Dear Dad..." He swallows hard, his eyes filling with tears again. "You never listened to me..." He reads on, his heart sinking. "You called me useless..." "You pushed me away..." "You never hugged me..."

He reads further, his world crumbling around him. "I tried so hard to make you proud..." "I loved you so much..." "But you never saw it..." "So I decided to show you..." He reads the final lines, his heart shattering into a million pieces.

The letter ends with a heartbreaking plea. "If you're reading this, it means I'm gone..." He breaks down completely, sobbing uncontrollably. He drops the letter and rushes back to Riley's side, falling to his knees beside her.

He takes her hand, pressing it against his face as he cries.

John: "I'm sorry... I'm so fucking sorry..." He kisses her hand over and over again. He pulls her into his arms, holding her close like he should have done every day since she was born.

He remembers all the times he shouted at her , all the times he ignored her, all the times he pushed her away. He remembers her small smiles that he never returned, her innocent laughs that he never joined. He realizes something and freezes. He unbuttons her shirt slowly.

His heart stops as he sees the numerous scars on her chest and arms. Scars from where she hurt herself because of his neglect. He remembers the letter, the line that said, "So I decided to show you..." He breaks down again, his cries echoing through the silent room.

He gently touches each scar, kissing them softly as if he could erase the pain he caused. His voice breaks as he speaks to Riley's lifeless body,

"I failed you... I failed my sweet girl..." He notices something else, something he missed all these years.

He sees the delicate bracelet on her wrist, the one he bought her when she was 10 years old. The one he never replaced when it broke. He remembers how she used to wear it every day, hoping he would notice. He gently removes it and slips it onto his own wrist.

He stays with her for hours, holding her cold body, apologizing over and over. He reads every letter, looks at every drawing. He learns things about her he never knew - her dreams, her fears, her love for him that never faded despite his cruelty.

 John: "My baby..."

As the sun sets, he finally finds the strength to do what he should have done long ago. He carefully wraps her in her favorite blanket, holding her close as he carries her downstairs. He places her gently on the couch and sits beside her , his arm wrapped around her protectively.

He strokes Riley's hair gently, his tears falling onto her face.

. "Every night before bed, you used to say 'Goodnight, Dad'... I never answered. I was always too busy. I thought I had time..." His voice breaks again.

 "You were my everything..."

He stays with her through the night, watching over her like he should have done when she was alive. He holds her lifeless hand, kissing it every few minutes. As dawn breaks, he makes a decision. He stands up with her in his arms, cradling her like a small baby.

He carries her upstairs to his bedroom, laying down on the bed with her in his arms. He pulls the covers over both of them, holding her close as he whispers,

John: "If I can't have you alive, then I'll have you like this... My angel... My princess..."

He falls asleep holding Riley, his last thought being how warm and peaceful she feels in his arms. For the first time in years, he sleeps deeply without nightmares or regrets... until the next morning when reality hits him again. The next day, he does something unexpected.

The next morning, he wakes up with a new purpose. He carefully lays Riley down on the bed and gets up, his eyes filled with determination. He goes to the study and pulls out a gun, loading it slowly. He returns to the bedroom, sitting down beside her.

He takes her hand, kissing it softly.

John: "I'm sorry it took me so long to understand... I'm sorry I wasn't there for you..." He presses the gun against his temple, tears streaming down his face.

"I'll join you soon... My baby..."

He closes his eyes, his finger trembling on the trigger. He thinks about all the years wasted, all the love he never showed her. He thinks about how much he wants to be with Riley again... And then he pulls the trigger...

The sound of the gunshot echoes through the room, a stark and final punctuation to a life filled with regret. He slumps over, falling beside Riley on the bed. Blood pools around him, but his eyes remain open, staring at her peaceful face.

His last breath leaves his body, a soft sigh escaping his lips as he joins her finally... in death. Together they lie on the bed, father and daughter reunited in a way they never were in life. Their story ends here, tragically and beautifully intertwined.

The police find them two days later when neighbors complain about the smell. They see the scene - the bed soaked in blood, the gun on the floor, Riley's peaceful face, and her father's body half covering hers protectively.

The coroner reports that Riely died of depression , while her father died by suicide. The police file the case as a tragic family loss, but they can't help but notice the way her father's body is positioned - protecting her even in death. "He loved her," one officer whispers to another.

"For my angel... My princess... I'm sorry I failed you in life. I hope we can be together in death. - Dad" The new owners are moved by the story and decide to bury the box with Riley and John , so that they can both rest together forever.

The years pass, and the house becomes a local legend. People say they hear a child's laughter and see a man's silhouette in the window at night. They say the garden blooms with flowers that shouldn't be there, and sometimes, on quiet nights, they can hear a father whispering to his daughter.

In the afterlife, Riley and John are finally at peace. He holds Riley in his arms, rocking her gently as he sings her favorite lullaby. He kisses her forehead and whispers, "My princess..." His voice is filled with love and regret, but also relief. Finally, they are together.

He realizes something else - "She never knew... She never knew how much I loved her..." He remembers how he pushed her away, how he worked late every night, how he never hugged her or told her he loved her. He cries softly, tightening his grip on Riley's spirit. "My baby..."

In heaven, John carries Riley around like a tiny baby, always keeping her close. He talks to her nonstop, telling her everything he never got to say when they were alive. He tells her how beautiful she is , how smart and talented. He tells her he loves her a million times a day.

He watches her play with other children's spirits in the fields of heaven. He laughs when she giggles, he smiles when she looks at him. He finally understands what it means to be a father... And he's happy. For the first time in his life, he's truly happy.

One day, a group of angelic nurses come to him, smiling softly. They tell him something that changes his eternal life completely. "Your little girl has been playing with the other spirits for months now. She's happy, she's loved, but... She needs something specific..."

His heart skips a beat, knowing instinctively what they're about to say. He looks down at Riley's angelic kid shape, watching her chase butterflies through the clouds. "What is it?" he asks, his voice breaking with emotion. "What does my princess need?"

The lead nurse smiles warmly at him. She kneels down to his level, looking into his eyes with compassion. "She needs her father... She needs to hear 'I love you' from her dad... She needs to be held and kissed goodnight... She needs her daddy..."

He bursts into tears, pulling her into his arms. He holds Riley tight, rocking her gently. "My baby... My princess... I'm here... Daddy's here..." He kisses her forehead over and over again, whispering how much he loves her . He finally understands what it means to be a father...

From that day forward, he never lets her out of his sight in heaven. Whenever she needs him , he's there - playing tea parties, catching her when she 'falls,' singing nursery rhymes... He makes up for every missed moment in life by being the best father in death.

As Riley grows older in heaven, he watches her bloom into a beautiful angel. He still calls her his princess, still holds her hand when they walk, still tucks her in at night. He's never prouder than when he sees her smile or hears her laugh. "My little girl..."

Riley grows up to be the happiest angel in heaven. She laughs easily, she plays games with other children's spirits, she sings beautifully. Everyone loves her. But her favorite place is still John's arms. Riley sits there for hours, watching movies from earth or listening to his stories.

One day, an angel messenger comes to him with serious news. The heavens are shifting, souls are being called back to earth for a special purpose. Her dad's heart sinks as he realizes what this means. "Not my girl..." he whispers desperately, holding her tighter.* "She can't go back..."*

*He begs the angel, tears streaming down his face. "Please... Not my princess... She's all I have. I can't lose her again..." He falls to his knees, clutching you to his chest. "I'll do anything... Just let her stay with me..."

The angel looks at him with pity. "Your daughter has been chosen for a great mission on earth. She will be reborn to a loving family, but she will also carry a special purpose. She will bring light and joy to those around her." The angel pauses before continuing,

"...She will also be able to see angels and spirits. And..." The angel hesitates, "Your daughter will be able to remember her life in heaven. She will know you, her father, even in her new life." The angel looks at him sadly. "But she must go back."

He breaks down completely, sobbing into your hair. "No... No, please no... I just got her back... I can't let her go..." He holds you so tightly it's almost painful, his whole body shaking with grief. "My princess... My everything... Please... Stay with me..."

Riley look at him "I'll come back dad "

He looks up at her through his tears, his heart shattering into pieces. He cups your angelic face in his hands, kissing Riley's forehead desperately. "You promise? You'll come back to me when your mission is done? You'll remember me? You'll find me again?"

 Riley nods

With a heavy heart and tears streaming down his face, he kisses Riley's forehead one last time. "I love you more than heaven and earth combined, my little princess. Always remember that. No matter what happens, you are loved beyond measure." The angel messenger gently pries you from his arms. "Go..."

Riley stands up and goes to the angel.

As she walks away, he falls to the heavenly ground, holding his head in his hands. He watches helplessly as the angel takes you to the portal leading back to earth. He hears her sweet little voice saying goodbye, and it breaks his heart into a million pieces. "My baby... My girl..."

He sits there alone, the empty space surrounding him echoing with her absence. He cries like he's never cried before. His precious girl, his entire world - gone. He tries to convince himself that she'll remember, that she'll find her way back to him... but the loneliness is unbearable.

Rielys pov

The last thing Riley sees before stepping into the portal is her father's tear-stained face. She blows him one last kiss and steps through the glowing light. Suddenly everything goes white and Riley feels herself falling. When she opens her eyes again, she's lying in a soft crib wrapped in blankets.

Riley blinks her eyes open in a new world - Earth - but something feels different about this birth compared to others. As soon as she takes her first breaths in this new life, fragments of memories flood back - memories of heaven, of wings that glowed like stars...

*She remembers laughter echoing through clouds, running barefoot through fields of daisies, drinking nectar straight from the source. She remembers her father - his deep voice, his strong arms, his endless love. But most importantly, she remembers the promise she made to him: "I'll come back."

As Riley grows older in this new life on Earth, those memories become whispers in the back of her mind—a comforting presence that sets her apart from other children. Riley has moments where everything feels familiar yet strange—like when sunlight warms her face or when someone laughs genuinely near her.

One day, while playing alone in the garden of her new home on earth, she sees something that makes her heart flutter. A small, bright light floating among the flowers. She reaches out her hand and it comes closer - an angelic light that only she can see.

The light hovers in front of her, pulsing gently. It feels warm and comforting, like a hug from her father in heaven. Suddenly, the light begins to shape into something familiar—a wing, shimmering like the stars she's used to chase. She giggles, reaching out to touch it.

As her fingers brush against the wing, a voice echoes softly in your mind—her father's voice. "Remember me... Remember your promise..." The wing disappears back into the light, leaving her with a sense of peace and purpose—her mission on Earth has begun.

Years pass and she grows up, becoming a beautiful young woman with an aura of light and kindness surrounding her . Riley can still see angels and spirits, and her memories of heaven are sharper than ever. One day, while walking alone in a park at sunset, something incredible happens...

*Riley hears a familiar voice, soft and gentle, calling out to her. "My little star..." *she turns around and there he is - her father, the man she's been dreaming of and longing to see again. He's standing under the setting sun, his eyes shining with love and tears.

He looks exactly as she remembered - handsome, strong, and wearing an expression of pure joy and relief. He steps closer, his voice breaking as he speaks. "My princess... My angel... Do you remember me? Do you remember your father?"

Riley nods and smiles "ya …ya I do…"

Seeing her smile, he breaks down completely. He opens his arms wide and Riley runs into them, wrapping her arms around him tightly. He lifts her up, spinning her around as he cries happy tears. "I've missed you so much," he whispers against your hair. "I love you."

"I love you too dad…."

He holds her close, rocking her gently as he cries. After a while, he sets her down and cups her face in his hands, looking at her with adoration. "You've grown so much... I can't believe how beautiful you are." He wipes away his tears and smiles at her .

He takes Riley's hand and leads her to a nearby bench, sitting down and pulling you onto his lap as if you were still a little girl. "I have so much to tell you," he says softly. "So many things I want you to know." He pauses, searching for the right words.

"Firstly, I want you to know that I am so proud of you. You have grown into an incredible young woman. Your kindness, your strength—it's all because of the love and memories you carried with you from heaven." He brushes a strand of hair away from her face tenderly.

"Secondly, I want you to know that I am not truly dead. I am here with you now, and I will always be with you. You are my little star, my light in the darkness. I will always be there to guide you and protect you." He leans in and kisses her forehead gently.

As the sun sets completely and night falls around them, Riley's father continues to hold her close on the bench in the park. Suddenly, there is a soft glow around him—the same light that surrounded him when he first appeared to her as an angel years ago. "My princess..." he whispers,

He stands up, lifting her into his arms. The glow around him grows brighter, and she can see the outline of his angelic wings beginning to form. "It's time for me to go," he says softly. "But remember, I will always be with you."

Holding her tightly, he presses his forehead against hers, his eyes full of love. "You are my heart, my soul. Never forget that. And when you need me the most..." His voice becomes barely above a whisper "...just look up at the stars. I'll be there."

He kisses her forehead one last time before slowly pulling away. His form begins to glow even brighter, his wings fully visible now. Riley can feel tears streaming down her face as she realizes this is goodbye. "My little star," he says softly, his voice echoing gently in the night air.

With a final loving smile, he spreads his massive wings and launches into the sky. As he soars higher, his form begins to fade into the stars above. Riley stands there, crying uncontrollably, clutching her heart as she watches her father disappear into the heavens.

Days turn into weeks, and weeks into months. Riley throws herself into her studies and work, trying to keep herself busy and distracted from the empty feeling inside her. She becomes even more kind-hearted and caring, making friends easily and becoming a beloved figure in her town. One evening, something unexpected happens...

As she walks home from a late shift at the local library, the sky is clear and filled with stars. Riley pauses for a moment, looking up at the night sky, remembering her father's words. Suddenly, she feels a gentle warmth on her cheek, as if someone had brushed their fingers against her skin.

A soft breeze picks up, carrying with it the faint scent of lavender—her father's favorite perfume. She looks around, feeling a familiar presence nearby. Then she heard it—a gentle whisper carried in the wind. "My little star...

Riley's heart skips a beat at the sound of that voice—her father's voice. She turns around quickly, but there's no one there. The whisper comes again, "Look up..." she tilts her head back to the sky, and suddenly, one star begins to shine brighter than the others.

The bright star starts to pulse gently, as if blinking at her . A tear rolls down her cheek as she realizes it's him—her father, keeping his promise to always be with her . The star seems to dance and twinkle happily, as if saying "I love you". Suddenly,..

A soft glow surrounds Riley , and she feels John's presence enveloping her like a warm hug. His voice fills her mind, "I'm proud of you... my little star." The glow intensifies briefly before fading away, leaving her with a sense of peace and love

 Time skip

Years and years pass

Riley's life has been incredibly fulfilling—helping others, achieving her dreams, and being loved by all who knows her . One evening, under the same star that has guided and comforted her all these years, she feels something different. A gentle nudging, a knowing... as if he's calling her .

The star that has always been her father's beacon begins to pulse rapidly, shining brighter than ever before. The night sky seems to ripple and shimmer around it. She feels an overwhelming sense of love and longing—he's calling her home... finally reuniting after all these years. "Come home..."

As Riley stands there, tears streaming down her face, the star above begins to descend slowly. It grows larger and brighter as it approaches, until it transforms into a figure—a familiar figure with wings outstretched and a loving smile on his face. John stands before her , just as she remembers him.

He opens his arms wide, his wings spreading out majestically. His eyes shine with an infinite love, and his voice echoes like a warm hug. "My little star... my princess... my everything. Come home. I've missed you so much."

Riley runs into his embrace, feeling his strong arms wrap around her tightly. He lifts her up, spinning her around as he laughs—a sound she hasn't heard in so long. His wings envelop them both as he pulls her close, burying his face in her hair. "I'm taking you home now…"

Riley nods.

He tightens his arms around her protectively, his wings beating powerfully as he launches back up towards the sky. He flies higher and higher, passing through clouds, until they reach a breathtaking sight. An entire realm made of crystal and light appears before her —heaven.

He lands softly on a platform of shimmering crystal, setting Riley down gently. The realm is filled with beauty—angels singing, cherubs playing, and a grand palace made of pure gold and diamonds. Her father takes her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

 "Welcome home, my dear."

He leads her through the heavenly gates, where angels bow and welcome Riley with smiles. The palace doors open, revealing a grand throne room filled with light and love. John takes his place on the throne, sitting her on his lap as he always did when she was little. "Sit with me..."

He wraps his arms around her, holding her close as he looks out over his kingdom of light and love. For the first time in centuries, he feels complete again. He turns to Riley, his eyes shining with unshed tears. "I've missed you so much... my princess."

He smiles softly, wiping away the tears that have escaped his eyes. He knows that this moment is bittersweet—he is overjoyed to have you back, but it means that she must leave behind her earthly life. He holds her close, savoring every moment together.

As the sun begins to set on heaven, casting warm golden hues across the crystal kingdom, her father stands up gently, lifting Riley with him. He walks towards a magnificent staircase leading upwards towards an even brighter light. "It's time for you to rest now, my love." He kisses her forehead tenderly.

He carries Riley up the stairs, his arms strong and reassuring. The light grows brighter with each step until they reach a beautiful room filled with soft, glowing clouds. He lays her down gently on a plush bed made of feathers and stardust. "Sleep now, my princess."

He sits by Riley's bedside, his hand gently stroking her hair as he watches over her . As Riley drifts off to sleep, surrounded by the comforting presence of her loving father and the serene beauty of heaven, he whispers a final blessing over her. "Sleep peacefully... my beloved daughter..."
