Chapter 3 - chapter 3

Brielle

"You need to run away, Brielle." Mom mindlinked and my wolf growled.

"Mom… You're weak, you should be resting, do not use up your energy in trying to talk to me, please." I pleaded, hoping she'd end the mindlink.

"No… I'm already weak and I know my fate, I was once in a situation where I could leave the pack but I stayed back and now you're suffering for it, please run away, Dylan doesn't have good intentions for you." She replied and I exhaled deeply.

"I know mom but I'll never leave you… Nothing is going to make me abandon you." I insisted and she groaned, I could feel her strength slipping away and it made my heart race with fear.

"Mom… Please… Please stop talking and try to recover… Please mom…"

"Promise me… you'll leave the pack… Prom-ise me you'll not remain in this pack." She asserted and my wolf growled and howled, filled with pain and anger.

"Mom! Please stop it already! Please! You're weak… Please stop talking and focus on your health…" I yelled, rushing to the door as I began banging the door.

"Let me out! I need to see my mother, please! Please let me go!" I yelled at the top of my voice, knowing fully well guards were outside.

"Leave… The pack…" This was the last word I heard from mom before I felt the bond between us get disconnected.

"Mom! No… Mom… I know you're conscious and you can still hear me… Mom… Please tell me you're okay mom… Mom!" I yelled, hoping my wolf would be able to have contact with her wolf but I felt empty.

It felt like I was speaking to myself. The bond wasn't reciprocated and I shook my head vigorously, disbelief written all over my body.

"No… you're not dead mom… Y… You're alive… I know… I can feel it, you're alive mom!" I yelled, falling to my knees as I sobbed profusely.

I was filled with rage, she had very little strength left, yet she used it to protect me… I… I couldn't stay by her side even in death… I… I've got no means of going to her and only the goddess knows if I'd be allowed to visit her.

"Let me go… Please… My mom is dead." I said faintly, too weak to argue.

The door burst open and Dylan stood outside, a small frown on his face.

"Come with me." He ordered as he turned around, I dashed after him, my hands trembling while a part of me hoped mom would still be alive.

Entering the car, my body was quaking with dread as we neared the hospital, Dylan said nothing, he was busy going through his phone.

We arrived at the hospital and I raced into the ward, fear gripping my insides as I neared mom's room.

"M… Mom…" I whispered softly as I pushed the door open, wishing she'd be sitting, her beautiful broad smile plastered on her face with her eyes twinkling but the opposite met me.

She was pale, almost white with eyes shut and I rushed over, grabbing her hand. I hissed at how cold her hand was.

"Mom… Please… Please… Wake up mom, please…" I pleaded, shaking her vigorously but the room was quiet and heavy with gloom.

"Brielle… Y… You should leave, Amelia left instructions that under no circumstances should you remain in the pack, you should leave, run away, go to any other pack but please do not stay here." Mom's nurse advised after looking around and I shook my head.

"I… I don't know if I've got what it takes… I… I'm scared, what will I do? How will I survive out there? Where will I go?" I demanded and she grabbed my hand, slipping in a few dollar notes.

"These are all I have, she said not to allow you to stay in this pack, it's a matter of life and death and you need to leave before the alpha comes for you, please Brielle, this was her last wish." She pleaded, her gaze locked with mine and I exhaled.

"How would I run past the guards?"

"There's another room here that leads to the kitchen, here, take this apron and cap, pretend to be one of the cooks and head out through the back door, the Alpha's guards have surrounded the area, once you get to the forest, shift into your wolf form and run as fast as possible into any pack but please, avoid the Shadow pack." She advised and with tears streaming down my cheeks I nodded.

"Thank… you so much." I replied, walking over to mom. I placed a kiss on her head, watching her before I put on the apron and hair net, dashing through the back door as fast as I could.

My heart was pounding as I walked into the kitchen, head bowed while hoping nobody glances at me.

I was almost at the door "Wait…" I froze immediately as my hands began to tremble, slowly, I began to turn around.

"You forgot the trash." A male cook asserted and I nodded, snatching it as fast as possible before I rushed out.

Once outside, I sneaked out through the parking lot into the forest, shifting into my frail and weak wolf as I ran as fast as my limbs could carry me.

Knowing the route that led to the shadow pack, I was about heading into the narrow part that led to another pack when I felt a sharp jab on my fore limb.

I felt dizzy instantly as I tried to force my body to move but I went numb, weakly falling to the ground as my eyes began to shut slowly.

"Crap, we got an omega, I hope she's beautiful or else we wouldn't get any reasonable price off her. Dainty thing, what the hell is going on these days, why aren't good wolves running in the forest anymore?" These were the last words I heard before darkness took over.
