Chapter 4 - Chapter 5: The Rain Chose Again

Rajveer Malhotra stood downstairs like a king who believed the world belonged to him.

Tall. Cold. Perfectly dressed.

His eyes landed on Meera.

Then on Anya.

And finally on Arjun.

"So," Rajveer said with a smile, "the village boy became a hero."

Arjun stepped forward.

"You're not taking them."

Rajveer chuckled.

"Do you even know what you're protecting?"

He pulled out documents and placed them on the table.

"These papers prove my granddaughter is heir to a trust worth crores. But only if she stays under family guardianship until adulthood."

Meera's eyes widened.

"That's why you want her," she said.

Rajveer's smile disappeared.

"No," he said coldly. "That's why I need control."

Arjun clenched his fists.

"You ruined her life."

Rajveer leaned closer.

"Move aside. I can give you money, a house, a future. More than a mechanic like you will ever earn."

Arjun laughed bitterly.

"Three years ago, I waited in the rain for a girl I loved. Today, I stand in front of a monster who thinks love has a price."

Rajveer's expression darkened.

He signaled his men.

Before they could move, police sirens rang outside.

Rajveer turned sharply.

Ravi smirked.

"I may run a printing shop," he said, "but I also know a very good lawyer."

A woman in a formal suit entered with police officers.

She introduced herself.

"I'm Advocate Nisha Sen. We have enough evidence of abuse, illegal confinement, and attempted forced custody. Mr. Rajveer Malhotra, you are under investigation."

Rajveer shouted in rage, but the officers stopped him.

As he was taken away, he glared at Meera.

"This isn't over!"

But for the first time in years—

Meera didn't look afraid.

Days later, in court, temporary custody of Anya was granted to Meera.

Rajveer's financial crimes also began surfacing one by one.

The empire he built on fear started collapsing.

That evening, rain fell softly over Kolkata.

Meera stood under a bus stop with Anya, waiting.

Arjun walked toward them carrying the same old black umbrella.

Meera smiled through tears.

"Funny," she whispered. "It always comes back to the rain."

Arjun stood in front of her.

"You once said if fate wanted, we'd meet again."

Meera nodded.

"And we did."

Anya tugged Arjun's hand.

"Will you stay with us?" she asked innocently.

Arjun looked at Meera.

Then at the little girl.

Then at the rain.

He opened the umbrella over all three of them.

And smiled.

"This time… I'm not waiting anymore."

The rain fell harder.

But none of them were afraid.

Because sometimes love doesn't return the way we imagined.

Sometimes—

it returns wounded, late, and carrying a child.

And still… it becomes home.
