By the third day, the competition had lost its importance.
At least, for Luo Qingyan.
Because something else had begun to take shape.
It appeared in small, almost imperceptible moments.
The way Shen Wuyou remained nearby without announcing himself.
The way his gaze lingered just slightly longer than necessary.
The way the golden thread felt warmer when they stood too close.
It was subtle.
But it was there.
And Luo Qingyan had begun to notice.
"This is bad," he said to himself.
"What is bad."
Luo Qingyan startled.
"You need to stop doing that."
Shen Wuyou stood behind him.
"You are easily startled."
"You appear without warning."
"I am present."
"That is not the same thing."
Shen Wuyou stepped closer.
"You are thinking excessively."
"I think as a survival mechanism."
"You should stop."
"That is not an option."
"Then reduce it."
"That is also not an option."
Shen Wuyou considered that.
"You stay."
"…I live here."
"With me."
The words were delivered quietly, but clearly.
Luo Qingyan's breath caught before he could stop it.
"That sounds inappropriate."
"It is not."
"It feels like it should be."
Shen Wuyou's gaze remained steady.
"Do you want to leave."
Luo Qingyan opened his mouth to answer.
But the response did not come.
Because for the first time, he was uncertain.
"I do not know," he admitted.
Shen Wuyou accepted that without reaction.
"Then remain until you decide."
The wind moved gently around them.
The clouds below shifted slowly, untouched by the tension above.
