"Can you just stop?" Adunni screamed on top of her voice. She didn't want to hear anything Tomiwa had to say. He had done enough and she had seen enough. She couldn't even believe this was who she was planning on spending the rest of her life with.
This was the pinnacle of it all.
She was done with anything that had to do with men. She had exhausted herself. She gives her all but it always ends up the same way every single time. She's more than heartbroken this time. She doesn't even think she had a heart anymore.
This was her fourth relationship in five years. The first one ended up cheating on her with her friend and even impregnated her as well and he seemed so unapologetic about it. He blamed her for not satisfying him enough; what bullshit.
The next one was a drug addict and was trying to hide it from her. He wasn't just that but a criminal at that and had murdered someone at her apartment. She narrowly escaped being prosecuted for something she knew nothing about. She later found out he had been stealing from her and lying about nearly everything she thought she knew about him.
The third was no different from the first. Now the one she thought everything was working fine with just shattered the last piece of her left. They had been together for over a year and it seemed like this was leading somewhere. He proposed on her last birthday and she felt on top of the world. Her mother was going to be so happy that at last her first daughter was getting married. Unknowingly to her, there was something hidden beneath the carpet.
She had introduced him to her parents and he also did the same. They had finalized the date of their wedding and everything had been set not until a huge revelation was made. Tomiwa was a married man with two children already. It seemed like she was hallucinating and what she was seeing wasn't real.
Three days before the wedding, the truth was revealed. She hasn't felt so devastated before. She couldn't seem to decipher what was going on yet.
How?.....How is that even possible?....She kept asking herself. Why did he do this to her?....she loved him with everything in her. How could he deceive her to this point?.....Why does this keep happening?....Was she cursed or something?.
She made up her mind right there that she was done with men. Her mother could rant all she cared but this was the pinnacle of it all for her. She was going to focus on herself and her career; nothing more. Her mother could marry off her sister if she was eager for grandchildren.
The Tomiwa still kept trying to explain what didn't seem to make any sense. She just walked out on him and headed to her apartment. She couldn't control the tears that rolled down her eyes. Her whole world seemed to crash before her eyes.
The pain was too much to bear. Zara was here to comfort her though but she just wanted to be alone at this point. It seemed she was going to move out and go to somewhere new and different. Here brought too many painful memories to her. She needed a new beginning after all these feelings had died down.
Life might be better away from here...maybe and maybe not.
