Chapter 2 - Dead Man Walking

Diego had died a tragic death, having been confined to the room of a hospital for sixteen years. He was born with a less extreme case of severe combined immunodeficiency, which allowed him to live up to sixteen years, when you're supposed to usually die within the first year of life.

Why was I born? Was a question he asked himself every day. There has to be a point to his existence; he refused to believe the blatant truth in front of him that he knew deep down - in a game of luck, he simply fell short, and that was that.

To experience freedom was the answer that came to him before his last breath. The reason why he was born to suffer was so that he could atone for his sins. Right now, he was not on Earth but a replica that was, in actuality, hell.

His sins would be cleansed through suffering. It was all a big prologue; nobody was real, including his parents. This was all a dream, a dream that led to freedom in the afterlife. Away from all of humanity manmade promblems and natural problems. He could go wherever he wanted in the afterlife and wouldn't have to worry about any type of disease.

Or that was what he thought before he awoke in a graveyard at night while heavy rain fell. Diego was covered in dirt from head to toe after breaking out of a casket. As he looked at his now beautiful, long, luscious, golden hair that he grabbed from behind, and his unusual pale skin, as the rain washed away the dirt, he let out a gut-wrenching scream.

'I thought I died, why am I now in a graveyard? Is this the afterlife, but this isn't how the doctors described it.'

He began to inspect his body, touching all over it and feeling his rock-hard abs, but then he got a whiff of something, and a large amount of drool started pouring from his mouth. The scent of what he smelt couldn't be put into words; it was simply so divine, he must find out what it is.

He started walking at a normal pace before going into a full sprint. The world seemed to blur behind him; he was running very fast, unnaturally so, his only point of reference was Usain Bolt and other Olympic athletes that he watched on TV, yet they seemed quaint compared to his speed. It began to dawn on him as he arrived closer and closer to the scent that something was clearly not right with this body.

"AHHHHHH!"

"What the fuck was that?" Shoya asked groggily.

He was woken up by a scream and slowly got up to grab his flashlight to investigate. Shoya was terrified to say the least, it didn't help that Japan was turning into chaos after people started getting superpowers, or what they called meta abilities.

Now, crazy people who were dubbed villains were running amok and causing widespread destruction. Shoya slapped himself repeatedly, trying to fully wake himself up. He couldn't afford to act slowly; what if he encountered a villain on the way, he had to be on full alert.

He got in a golf cart and started driving until he got a good distance away from the sexton's house. Everything was going smoothly except the rain, which was getting heavier, but then he heard something in front of him.

Splash

Shoya immediately stopped the cart and squinted in his eyes, trying to see past the darkness. He saw a tall, standing man who was ethereal, the most attractive person he had ever seen in his life. He was wearing a dirty, wet black suit and had golden hair and eyes that froze him in awe, which was quickly broken out of once he realised the dude was drooling a lot.

'What the fuck.'

Shoya let out an audible gulp and waved his hands in a friendly manner, trying to look as non-threatening as possible, but had his feet on the gas, ready to press it if the dude so much as started walking fast towards him.

"Hello! I mean no trouble. Are you the one who screamed?" He asked.

Diego stopped in confusion once he realised the scent was coming from this random person. It looked like a pink aura was wrapped around him. His stomach then loudly rumbled.

'Damn, I didn't even realise it, but I'm really hungry.'

"No, I didn't scream." He lied.

Diego didn't want to bring any suspension to himself, right now he needed to figure out what was going on and why this person smelled so tasty.

"Oh, okay! No problem, I'll be heading on my way!" Shoya started reversing.

'Like hell I'm going to stay here any longer, I did my job enough.'

As Shoya started driving away, Diego dropped to his knees in pain. His hunger started intensifying the further Shoya got away.

''It hurts, it hurts so much.'' Diego let out weakly.

Tears came out of his eyes as he tried to suppress his hunger; his vision started to get blurry, his nails sharpened, and his pupils changed to cat-like.

Badum

Badum

Badum

He was hearing a heartbeat, the heartbeat of that person. The only thing that came to his mind was him, but especially his skin. His oh so delectable skin that he must have a bite of. He slowly pushed himself up as black veins appeared on his arms.

Boom

Diego jumped towards the cart, cracking the ground beneath him. He landed behind it in a second and picked up, taking the screaming Shoya out of it and sending the cart flying away.

"AHHHH, KAMI SAVE ME SAVE ME," Shoya yelled as tears bawled out, but nobody could save him; he was the only employee at this small graveyard.

Diego took a big chunk of his leg and slowly started eating Shoya alive. Diego was completely aware of what he was doing. Tears streamed down his face as he apologised repeatedly between each bite.

"I'm sorry."

Chunk

"I'm so sorry, I can't stop."

Chunk

"I can't control my body."

Chunk

With each blood he also sucked from Shoya and flesh he ate, instinctively, he felt his emotions and pain, fear, anger and acceptance hit him all at once. It hurt him mentally and physically to keep eating, but he just couldn't stop.

The freedom that he once had over his body was gone.

Eventually, Shoya succumbed to his injuries and died a very agonising death. He tried everything in his power to move Diego, from punching and kicking with his other leg, but it didn't even budge him.

After an hour, Shoya was nothing more than a skeleton, and Diego's hunger was finally quelled.

"What have I become?" He asked in horror.

A/N: Yoo, first actual chapter. Tell me how you feel about it, and check out the character sheets for his abilities in auxiliary, which are not a quirk; it was given to him by Rob. If you don't see it, that means I haven't dropped it yet, but it will be updated as the story progresses.
