Chapter 62 - Choice In A Dream

Koji's eyes slowly opened, and were met with a seemingly infinitely vast, black void; he couldn't hear anything, and as he looked around his eyes were met with nothing but darkness.

It should just be pitch black, but the void had gray fog at the floor--though besides that, nothing else was actually there.

'Where am I? Is this another one of those dreams? This one seems different...'

'Creepy as fuck though.'

Koji decided to look down at his hand, and when he did he didn't notice anything different--he saw the usual small, pale hand that he always normally saw when he looked at it.

'This is odd, nothing is happening--in the other scary ass dream at least something horrifying happened! In this one, I'm just looking at fucking nothing.'

Koji at this point was no longer scared, well he was still a bit anxious of course--it was just that, he was mostly irritated.

If he's gonna have a nightmare, can the nightmare at least scare him then let him leave? This was just complete nothingness.

"Hello Ivan."

Suddenly, from seemingly nowhere, a voice called out to Koji--it was masculine, though oddly soft for a males voice; not only that, but it echoed repeatedly for a small bit before dissipating.

Koji's eyes instantly went wide with shock and fear--whoever this man was, he just called him by his name back on earth?!

"Hey! How do you know my name!?"

Koji was in utter shock, and therefore responded with a pretty cliche question--though, at this moment he didn't really care whether it was cliche or not; this guy somehow knew his name!

"Sorry, I can't tell you that--maybe one day, anyway I have an offer for you, Ivan."

'Does he have to say my name after every sentence? And why did he just dodge the question!? This is bad, he knows my name! He may come for me after this, oh shit... Fuck, no I just need to calm down. It is suboptimal to let my emotions go crazy in this situation--okay, just calm down.'

Koji tried to calm himself down, and it worked slightly; for the "voice", it felt annoying as Koji was taking an excorticating amount of time to answer him.

"Okay, what's the offer?"

Koji didn't know how to respond, so he simply decided to ask what was "put on the table".

"Well, let's get to that in a second."

Koji's emotions completely took a 180, shifting towards impatience and anger.

'Bastard! He just keeps side stepping everything.'

Once again, Koji had to calm himself down--though it was a bit harder this time; of course it was, this voice in the air kept dodging his questions!

Mixed with the fact he was in an unknown area, and presented with the fact that this voice knew his name that he had on earth--in truth, almost anyone would be going off the rails in such a situation.

"Then what do you want to talk about, voice in the sky?"

Koji hoped he would finally start a clear conversation that wouldn't result in just a sudden shift in topic, but he didn't have high expectations.

"It must feel rather awkward talking to a voice in the sky Ivan, my apologies."

Suddenly, in the void the mist that blanketing the pitch black ground started to form a swirl the size of Koji in the air--eventually, the mist condensed and started to take shape.

Koji's eyes widened.

In front of him, was definitely himself.

His sharp, pitch black eyes that had caused many--including his mother, to say he resembled a killer, stared right back at Koji.

Koji continued to examine his own features.

This is indeed what every person who dreams of seeing how they look in real life would go crazy for, though most likely they wouldn't be focusing on how good they look; rather, most people would be freaked out by the fact they are looking at themselves in the first place!

Koji's eyes drifted towards his soft, pale skin which was unchanged even though he spent a considerable amount of time in the sun.

His femininity was clear when his face was examined--his eyes may be sharp, but his nose was feminine and his skin of course amplified this effect; his age also played a role in this, as his jaw was still not fully developed, nor was any of his face really.

It was still his striking eyes that stood out the most.

His body was definitely small, which was only normal for a kid of his age.

"Well Ivan, is this less awkward now?"

This guy--who was now taking the form of his own body, was now asking him if this was less awkward?!

Was he mentally retarded?

Though, Koji was sick and tired of playing into his stupid baits--at this point, he wasn't that angry anymore, just a little annoyed.

"Hardly."

"Anyway, now that you've decided to take the worst form you possibly could to hold a conversation, is there anything you need to say to me?"

"Koji" put his hand up to his face and lightly tapped his lip, though it was obvious that he was not actually thinking about what he should say.

This guy really just wanted to be a pain in the ass.

"Let's see, we could talk about how currently you are being hunted by people of a very high status--we could talk about how Ivory's current situation, we could talk about anything really; Ivan, I'm just here to have fun."

Koji's face lit up in fear as "Koji" mentioned people hunting him, and was too focused on those words to even hear the others--what? People hunting him, and of very high status?

Why couldn't this "Koji" have said this earlier!?

"W-wait, what- I'm being hunted!?"

Naturally, Koji's attempt to calm himself was once again blown out of proportion--it just kept getting worse for him by the minute!

"Koji's" eyes narrowed as Koji asked him about the people hunting him; clearly, he was upset about this too.

"Yes, such imbeciles daring to go after you; I would simply kill them off, but sadly I am unable to intervene--you're unlucky and lucky Ivan; if I was able to intervene, then you would be safe."

"Though of course, your situation would be... Well, different to say the least."

"Koji" said the last part in a very odd tone that gave Koji a bad feeling, but he was not bothered by it nearly as much as the fact he's actually being hunted!

"Am I in danger!? Wait--you said you couldn't help, why is that? A-"

Though before Koji could continue, he simply decided to stop; even now, he could recognize he's letting his emotions get the best of him--in this situation, where he was being constantly told things that blow his emotions up like a volcano, he was still trying to remain calm.

Koji sighed, closing his eyes and then slightly glaring at "Koji".

"Listen, I know you're not obligated to tell me anything--clearly, you're way beyond my level but if there is literally a bunch of psychopaths trying to murder me I'd like to know how much immediate danger I'm in."

"Koji's" eyes that were previously filled with a bit of joy, and a bit of frustration as the fact people are hunting for Koji--well now, he simply rolled them and looked serious.

"Stop with the calming down, it was funny seeing you all scared over nothing; really, there is nothing to worry about right now--I have unleashed a Artifact on you that makes you extremely hard to detect."

"An Artifact? I've never heard of such thing..."

Koji's initial worry about being in danger was somewhat satisfied, and the mention of an Artifact greatly peaked his interest.

"Sorry Ivan, I'll tell you that next time I decide to visit you--it's no fun if I give you a bunch of information in one visit; that's like buying a bottle of Heavenly Transcendental Wine and drinking it all in one sitting."

Koji's face shifted towards disappointment as once again, just like earlier--this guy decided to shift the topic, but by now he slightly got used to it.

Heavenly Transcendental Wine... All that Koji knew is that this wine's price was probably higher than he could guess if he tried.

"Anyway, time for that offer Ivan."
